can't find a parts list with prices

Post by avonpirate »

New to me 125 Buddy, hit in parking lot. Adjustor and mechanic cannot find a parts list with prices. Any ideas out there???

I've only put 400 miles on this baby and it's a real bummer. We are 2 weeks out with a broken left brake lever, and you know what that means..... it won't start.

Is this at a Genuine dealer?

They may have to call Scooterworks with a list of the parts to get pricing or get via the Scooterworks wholesale site online.

thanks for your quick reply. No I'm in a small town in Colorado and it's at the only 'motorcycle' repair shop. And now he has informed me that he does not like working on scooters for this reason: you can't get parts. I called Scooterworks earlier today and spoke with Perry. He was very nice. I have pulled the parts diagram off the internet. But hte probelm remains that Liberty Mutual can't access a price list.

I think that if the shop in Boulder gets around to UPS'ing the lever they have been promising since last Wednesday ..we can get it running. although with damaged body parts.

I am going to get Scooterworks info to Marshall at The Clinic in Minturn, but then I'm going to hear about how 'shitty' scooters are to work on once again. In my little blonde bobblehead, Ihad no idea that 1. another employee would move and drop my scoot and not own up to it 2. that scoots were such a controversial item with mechanics.

I purchased the Buddy because I thought it had a good reputation, but all I'm getting is grief and frustrated men.

May not be of much help, but here's a thread about panel swapping that has some prices. Insurance company probably won't accept it, but at least it's something to start with:

Sportique is a Genuine dealer in Boulder, and will work with your insurance for a quote if they can't get one. Geico was able to get all parts quoted no problem, and then allowed me to take it to Sportique for verification before signing off on any repairs.

Honestly a brake lever is a $6 part, and you CAN start it without one, just squeeze the right lever. works just fine. just don't drive it that way.

I'm not deep in teh situation but it seems like your insurance and shop aren't interested in helping you very much.

tHANKS FOR ALL THE HOT TIPS.
I'm going to get a copy of allof these to the mechanic. The bike is now startable as the lever arrived. Had NO idea about the right hand lever doing the job as well... good to know. Scooterworks was helpful with mechanic Marshall and his energy has turned around to more positive. But please keep the ideas coming.

I just got online with scooterloungeonline.com.

This is SOOOOOOO helpful, and gives me some hope, and smiles. I thought that I was in a 'herring' situation, and was wondering 'whatever was I thinking of'. I have no significant mechanical skills and I've jumped into the deep end.
A group of 'like minds' is very supportive.
thank-you, thank -you Thnak you!

Rode it

Post by avonpirate »

Brake handle arrived from Scooterworks on Friday. Drove it yesterday and I'm feeling less wearry. Mechanic is in better spirits with my having shared all the resources and tips which I found here and on the Facebook group. I ordered a disc brake lock this am. Haynes manual underarm, PGO crib sheets under other arm.
As I mentioned on Facebook this is my 2nd non-riding accident. My 1st purchase was an Eton Beemer from Colorado Powersports. Another macho environment, with big laughs about 'scoots'. They did not believe that hte front springs needed to be compressed. Long story short: it fell off the van twice: 1. in the parking lot 2. on hte road. 2 Harley guys helped me secure it so I could return it to the dealer who bought it back.

Really excited when I found the Buddy, it was what I wanted initially.

Then 3 tankfuls and this incident. Life has been a whirl, hopefully new energy coming my way .... need to protect myself from well intended uneducated.

Hopefully moving forward with better energy. Thnx to all who had tips and suggestions. I needed friends through this.
