Accidentally Used Wrong Oil In My 2005 Stella

Post by quinnolivarez »

Hi, new here.

I just accidentally poured a bottle of 4t oil in to my 2t 2005 Stella. Is this going to cause problems in the engine? If so, what do I need to do to remedy the problem?

Please help!

Yep,
Ya best get it out of there......it'll smoke like crazy, foul its spark plug.....not be a real happy engine.
2t oil is designed to burn, 4t is designed to stay in the crankcase.

Remove the clear(ish) line leading to the carburetor box after removing the right cowl.
Stick the hose in a empty oil bottle.....you'll likely need two of them, and just let it drain out.
Once drained, with the hose still disconnected, refill the reservour with the correct oil.
As soon as you see it start running out of the hose, reconnect to the nipple at the carb box.
Before tightening the clamp, allow a bit of oil to seep from the connection point.....you are trying to purge as much of the air bubble at that junction as possible....then tighten the clamp.

Invert the oil fill cap and fill it with 2t oil.....add this to your fuel tank....this to cover your lubrication needs till any air is fully purged from the system.

Watch for more responses....I might have missed a step, but this should cover you.

You poured it into the Auto-lube? Was there existing oil in there?

Your engine will still burn it but it's not recommended to mix two different kinds of oil, Especially if one is Synthetic and one is Mineral.

It may be best to clean it out, Normally when I run 4T oil in a 2T bike I run a richer mixture because the 4T oil doesn't have the same additives. Still works tho.

It's not by choice when it happens, When your out of premix and out of oil you use what's on hand.

32:1 is a easy mix, 4oz of oil to 1 gallon of gas. 5 Hour energy bottles are 1oz so you put 4 of em in, swish and fill.

Earlier this year I was riding support for a Mopeds rally and a guy ran out of gas and got left behind. When I found him I didn't have any premix left and the Gas Station didn't have any 2T Oil.

Remember your ratio's, You never know when you might need them!

My Atomic Fireball is on a Motul 710 diet, I'm not inhumane ;)

Oh mind you, I know how to mix my oil, but especially on a scooter with a glovebox I always have a spare bottle of 710 with me. I took six bottles to amerivespa just to make sure I wouldn't run out on the way there and have to make do with some sketchy walmart oil :P

Talking of motul 710, I love the smell of it but I really wish the anti-smoke formulation wasn't so good... I only get visible smoke if I let the bike seat a few days :(

I've heard of people running P series scoots on vegetable oil...not that I'd recommend it.
