.What motorcycle would you get?

Thanx for all the ideas. I think I have a winner, if I were to get a motorcycle it would be a ................1966 Triumph TR6SR . I know its retro and others have said to get the 'new" retros like the classic Triumphs (Bonniville and the Scrambler) for reliability. But all I need to do is take some motorcycle mechanics classes .

Sweeet! That's one airhead I never got to ride. Lots of folks used to say that the R80/7 was the ultimate sweet spot in the airhead line because of less vibration and fewer electrical problems. I'll chime in here as a happy Triumph owner -- this is my '03 Speedmaster (named "Athena"). She's been mucked with quite a bit, including the 904cc big-bore kit (which is absolutely mandatory, IMHO, and makes a HUGE difference in power).
She's mostly a garage queen now, considering work is <5 miles from home and my free time is mostly occupied with the kiddo. Hence the new scoot, and my participation in here. Still, I plan on keeping Athena until one of us dies. She still gets out on occasion, but not as much as I need her to.
As for other scoots for which I yearn? I'm with many of you and harbor a deep lust for the new Guzzi V7 series, but they're too anemic to justify the cost -- for that I can get a new Bonnie, which will blow the fenders off the V7. There is simply no excuse why a modern 700cc mill can't make 50hp or more.
I also covert the new CBR250R as a backroad and city bomber.
It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow!

Finally got my dream bike: a black '09 Triumph Bonneville: same year model as my scooter was, same year I got my MC permit and license. This is probably one of the very bikes I drooled over while my scooter was in for a regular service! 
As soon as I get some of the debt down again I'll probably get another buddy (or maybe a blur) as a backup/'round town/workhorse.

I don't want to shift on a bike that I would ride often so the Honda NC700x (with the automatic options) is the only bike I've really seen I would want to own.
There are several bikes I wouldn't mind buying for short, weekend rides. Mostly sportbikes like a Ninja or CBR. Seen plenty of these bikes for really cheap used and even found a nice looking Ducati for pretty cheap.

I have a few bikes and they are what I feel are the best for my use.
1974 Penton 250 harescrambler: A good 2 stroke MX bike that I can flat foot and rip around the farm and woods.
2006 Kawasaki ZX-14: I have it stretched 10", motor tuned, lowered, and spray a 50sjot of nitrous. Still street legal and I ride it back and forth to the drag strip in Norwalk, OH. It is so fast on the street that I just take it easy and usually keep it around 50 mph. It runs 9.3 @155 mph in the quarter mile on the motor and 9.1 on the nitrous.
2007 KTM adventure: This is the perfect bike for what I ride. Good power, upright seating, can carry a load, run any road or decent trail, and it is a fun bike to cruise down the eway. Needs lots of tender loving care but is really rewarding in the end.
And my 2013 Blur 220 i, has 350 miles so far and is a real hoot!
My wife rides a 2010 Vespa 300 Super.
I do think about selling the ZX-14 and getting a older bike. If I ever find a clean RD400 for a good price it will be hard to pass up. I find it is a lot more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
