Remove Front Rack

Post by walke2jd »

I have a buddy that came with a front rack. I would like to remove the rack as it doesnt fit with the look Im trying to go for.

Once it is removed, are there supposed to be pieces to cover the rack bolt holes? I've never seen a buddy without a rack, so Im not sure if I am missing pieces or if I have everything I need to remove the rack and still look stock.

Any input would be appreciated!

The front cowl has pre-stamped cutouts that are removed to add the front rack. When you remove the rack, you'll have to cover the holes with something. You can buy hole plugs at hardware stores or do some bodywork and painting with Bondo or buy a replacement front cowl from Scooterworks or Scooterlounge.
The other option is come up with something creative for those holes that may go with the look you are aiming for. Keep in mind there's not much room behind the cowl for wiring or anything since those holes line up with a nice steel plate that's part of the front fork/frame assembly.
.::I know the voices in my head aren't real, but man do they come up with some great ideas::.

Or you could buy a replacement front panel and have your genuine dealer replace it.
Oh, so they have internet on computers now!

You can install the replacement yourself. If you own and know how to use a regular phillips-head screwdriver, it's easy. :)

Hey, you could really have some FUN with this! :P

Seriously though, the cleanest thing would be to just order another front cover and swap it out. They're not too pricy and it would look stock again.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm highly considering the googley eyes.

Tommy Red, Ill let you know if I decide to sell it. Ill be pulling it off to give the buddy a paint job soon, so once I see how it looks with the new paint, Ill be making a decision.
