Please Help, Only 2.5 miles on my 2013 Buddy 170i and won't
Please Help
I only have 2.5 miles on my 2013 170i and I went to take it for a ride this evening and it will not start..
Yes there is gas..
Yes it tries to turn over...
No the light is not coming on when I turn the key..
It should not have battery issues...
So frustrated..
Please Help

Sounds like a dead battery to me. It happens, batteries are stored on a float charger but sitting in storage might make them go bad. You'll be able to get a fresh battery under warranty if that is the issue.Invincible wrote: Yes it tries to turn over...

Is the kill switch on?
Sounds obvious, but you won't believe how often it happens.

When my scooter arrived gas was drained for transport. So I went and got gas for it.
I literally had to read the manual because scooter would not start. What I did was turn the power switch, turned the key to "on", pressed the starter button...and nothing. What I was not doing and should have was press on left(rear) break lever and hold it as I pressed the starter button...duh...that is not how the motorcycle started at the MSF class

Yoops, right. I didn't read it well enough.Lokky wrote:If the kill switch were on the engine wouldn't try to turn over and he should still be getting lights by turning the key on, right? (it's been a while since I messed with a buddy)ericalm wrote:Is the kill switch on?

I agree. Likely pattern of connection. Call roadside assistance.
It's possible a cable is loose or the battery wasn't fully charged when delivered.

Haha thanks. Speaking of this issue, I was really glad I've got a 125 today as my battery has started to show signs of not liking the cold weather (and I have yet to pull my Battery Tender out of the closet) and I had to kickstart. I'd still take a 170i any day of the week but, man, that kickstart has been used a LOT on my Buddy!phatch wrote:NICE detective work!jmazza wrote:I'm thinking battery too. Your last post was Sep 28 and with 2.5 miles on the OD that's over 2 weeks w/o a start. Battery could easily be a little drained.

Yep. I think it's our weird fluctuations in desert weather. This time of year there's a 30-50 degree difference in temps, and those tiny little batteries don't like it.jmazza wrote:Haha thanks. New to me: my 125 would not start at a gas station. Popped battery cover off and yes it had a new battery but the previous owner didnot put the bolts on the wires. Then another time I left the key in . The result was a sluggish battery and my learning how to kickstart it. Follow that day with a couple of cold days w/o enuf running time, and the scoot had a sluggish start until it warmed up. W/ enough road time the battery has been recharged. I'm just saying ..... Don't take it personally.
