Insurance on a Buddy 125!
I just got rates from my insurance agent and they quoted me $187/six months. Is that about right? I have perfect driving records and have 3 other cars insured with this insurance company. Do some of you know if I can get a better rate than what I was quote at? Thanks - LC

$187/6 months sounds pretty high, depending on how much coverage you're getting and what your deductibles are. If you can afford higher deductibles, best to go with that option and getting a lower monthly rate.
Unfortunately, there are usually too many variables to predict what rate someone else will get based on your own. Location, age, experience on 2 wheels, MSF completion and many other factors are considered. The insurance companies say gender is not a factor, but I'm skeptical. For instance, when my wife (close to my age, similar driving record, no scootering experience) started riding, the quotes for her were 3-6 times the ones I paid when I started with no experience less than a year earlier.
Others may chime in and say they got a sweet deal with a certain insurer, but your quote could be wildly different. When I was comparison shopping, I got quotes for similar coverage that varied as much as $1,000 per year. It makes no sense.
The best thing you can do is just go online or call a bunch of insurers and compare their quotes. It's a time-consuming PITA but could save you a bundle. Calling is sometimes better—I had someone on the phone really work with me to get my rate where I wanted it. The automated systems won't provide that kind of service.

Thats about what I pay for full coverage for two drivers. We've been with State Farm for 26 years and I got the the best quote from Progressive. Geico was second. We both have flawless records. Me 44 her 38.
Like they said. There is no method to there madness. I think our issue is where we live.

hi, dubbylove. as you know, i live just down the road apiece from you and that's about what i pay with progressive. like you, i have good credit. geico was about double for the same coverage.
like eric said, there are just too many variables. like because i own a condo, i'm probably carrying more than someone who may be a renter. why? cuz i don't want some sue-crazy fool to think i have lots of money and try to get it from me.
rather than doing all the leg work yourself, go to a broker and let then do the comparison shopping for you. and make sure you're comparing apples to apples.
i'm one of those people who are big on amortizing. so say, if i'm quoted X amount for a certain coverage, but i can up it to more for say $60 more per year, i'll go for it. why? cuz i'd get better coverage is only $5 more per month. but that's just one of my quirky personality traits.
