Help-Blackjack having problems

Hi, sorry, I have a problem with my Blackjack. Bought new in March/12, I have put on 1400 miles. Tried to start it for a ride today. It started right up and for about 5 minutes it ran nicely. Then it stopped. It started right back up and then stopped after a minute. Then it wouldn't start. It tried to kick over but just wouldn't "catch". There is gas still in gas tank(not much) and I filled it 2 weeks ago. Last rode it 1 week ago. I'm pretty mechanically "stunted" but I wouldn't think it was a dead battery if it was trying to start. Kick starting didn't work either. When I usually ride it, it takes a bit for it to really hit its stride. I then took my Vespa out for a 2 hour ride and came back and tried to start the Blackjack. Again, it was trying to "catch" but just wouldn't "kick" on. I'm trying to not get frustrated and will wait to call SJ Vespa on Tuesday when it opens, but if anyone else has had a similar problem and fixed it or have an idea what's going on, any help would be appreciated. try it with the gas cap off. 'Buds can be notorious for vapor lock. seems to simple to be true i know, but many have encountered the same

Based on your observation and description I strongly advise you add some fuel before calling for a tow.
Even though you can see fuel on the floor of the fuel tank doesn't mean it is high enouph for it to go down the pickup tube.
The tube inlet is slightly above the tank floor to prevent debris from going down the fuel line.

Over the years of operating a shop I'll estimate 9 out of 10 tow ins were only in need of fuel.

Thanks for the help and I do feel stupid. Even though I could see a little gas in the bottom of the tank, evidently it was not enough and that was the cause of the scoot not starting. Added a gallon this afternoon after work and it started up after a few "coughs". The thing the puzzles me most is that I had a full tank and only went 85 miles before this happened. Oh well, I guess I fill up every 75 miles then. Thanks again for the help.

it's just getting toward broken in, and it depends on what kind of riding you do. if you ride hard and fast, up a lot of hills ,weigh more, etc; you will get less gas mileage.

It's another reason I keep track on Fuelly. sometimes you just don't get as good MPG for one reason or another, but consistently low can indicate a problem or being in need of a service.

If you've gone 85 miles since your last fillup thats impressive. I know mine is much less! I typically refill after 50 miles to be safe. But I do that because its a nice round number not cause I can't go further. The gas gauge is a guide not an exact measure of how much you have left.

fair enough! For me it depends on what I am doing. After a year of commuting on it, if I'm just going to work and back, I can go to work and back when the fuel indicator indicates totally empty. I ended up filling up 1.2 gallons last night after that. I could probably get TO work one more time, but back would be questionable.

sounds right. the 150 gets slightly less mileage. I may alternate them when we pick up a 2nd buddy for the wife soon. That's going to throw me off .
