good deal?

Post by jamisfoes »

I found this in my local Craigslist. Good deal? I have seen it up close. Looks very clean but I don't know how to value a classic like this.

I fixed the link. It's definitely a clean looking bike, but I don't know anything about them either. You should ask around at Modern Vespa.

I don't know what the usual prices are down there but I'd have a hard time paying more than 2k for a P series in good conditions, maybe 2500 if really good.

Way over priced.

Spare tire is missing, probably wouldn't fit with that pipe.

Expansion chamber pipe but no mention of any mods that would be needed with that pipe. Will tend to get hot on long runs.

No mention of what "rebuild" included...could be a full tear down with new everything (seals, bearings, crank, top end..etc) or the replacement of a fly side oil seal.

White walls on a P?...just wrong (YMMV)

I would pass...much better P200s out there for much more reasonable prices

There are some less well-painted but possibly mechanically solid P200s fairly often on CL. The trailer's worth a few hundred bucks, but you need a truck with sufficient tongue-weight rating to use one. With a little patience, you could probably do as well or better for $1000 or more less.

$2000-$3000 is pretty common for a good, running P200 (from a private seller) around here, depending on condition.

Bar Italia has a very low-mileage P200 with a shop warranty for $3800. http://www.baritaliaclassics.com/Site/RTR_02.html

Massimo's might have something, too.
