Boosted NOS '09 Blackjack
Sat on, started, and rode this scoot around the lot a bit - NOS '09 Blackjack with 12.7 miles on the clock. Has a couple of small paint scratches from being handled over the last couple years.
Lead mechanic there had installed an aftermarket carb they'd had laying around - didn't remember offhand what exactly it was - thought it was possibly an NCY 26mm from Scooterworks that wasn't used on another customer's project; still needs jetting fine-tuned...and he'd put on a real throaty (loud) aftermarket pipe (A bit louder than the Prima I'd had on my GTS).
Acceleration was...glandular! To say the least.
Out of curiosity, I asked for a price...was quoted 2800 OTD (well, plus sales tax & tags).
What think ye? I'm a little leery of modded bikes. Between scoots right now - had been leaning hard toward a new 170i. Even though I'd prefer EFI, it was some kinda fun....

Tough call! The FI is great but the upgrades on the stock Black Jack were ace... I say; "Do your best to get what you *REALLY* want the first time. That way you save time n money". I don't wanna be bias, but if you have a lotta big hills where you live, out of the 2 the 170i might be bit better....

Yeah, the testosterone factor was def huge-ish here.
I ride a lot with my wife...she was not fond of the loud pipe, but wants me to get something soon so I can quit "abusing" her '13 Vino Classic. I got her the Vino for the EFI...had become real weary of purging water outta the fuel systems of our (former) carbed scoots, Stabil notwithstanding.
Her Vino has been aces, btw; I've never had a 49cc 4T scoot accelerate up to 35mph as quickly as hers does.

I'd be suspicious if Genuine would honor the factory two year warranty after the dealer has modified the bike.
It ultimately depends on what you want. If you want something a little more cookie cutter that you just hop on and ride go for the 170i. If you want something cooler which stands out and that you can and want to tinker with, go with the Blackjack.

Oh, no question of any warranty here; not after those mods. All too familiar with what can happen once you start modding for performance...leery, as I say.
Still, it was indeed punchy. Hoped that I'd hear from someone who'd tricked-out a Genuine 150 mill a bit, and how that'd worked for 'em.

I just installed the 171 NCY kit with the prima exhaust and the NCY large port head. Been great fun ..
With that many miles on the scoot only 12.5 miles you might want them to throw in another oil change a lot sooner " new parts wear faster to get all in place. Just make sure they Jet the carb correctly !
Too lean on the carb This can happen !
