Running Wiring
Any advice on running wiring from the battery to the headset? Most PX tutorials advise removing gas tank, but I'm not sure it's worth it on the Stella. Poke it through with a coat hanger?

I fished a coat hanger with the end bent into a loop from the bottom of the horn cast to the back, and pulled a wire back forward. It popped out on the other side by the choke cable, but got me close enough to the battery. I don’t have any pictures or I would post them, but if memory serves me correct, I went in where the wire harness goes in under the frame towards the bottom left (looking at it from the front) of the horn cast area. I then ran the wire through one of the already present perforations into the glove box.

The coat hanger method worked! I tried every ingress and egress I could and eventually got it through, back to front, from the engine side. It's a big cable and I had to lop off the plug (SAE2, like Battery Tender) to get it through. This "plug and play" idea I had for wiring power and accessories isn't as plug and play as imagined.

…AND then I get it all wired up, test the voltage, drill holes on the body and glovebox, and then…
The frackkkking dannnnggggin damn USB plug I bought — the whole point of this — turns out to be a dud.
The wiring works, though, so maybe I can snag a 12v adapter tomorrow. Bah.

Eric, are you wiring a new horn? What gauge wire did you use?ericalm wrote:Any advice on running wiring from the battery to the headset? Most PX tutorials advise removing gas tank, but I'm not sure it's worth it on the Stella. Poke it through with a coat hanger?

I'm going to do a separate write up on what I did, what I did wrong, and so forth. Hopefully others will learn from my stupidity!

Just got the Stella back from the shop. New brake pads!
I'll be able to get to this after the weekend.
