Fastest scooter I've ever ridden is a Vespa GTS 300IE.

Most fun? That's a hard one, Might have to go with a Honda Elite E. At 50 cc's it was all about traffic light timing and picking the best line to keep going as fast as the bike would go (Which was maybe 32MPH).

At the risk of sounding off about something I could be totally wrong on....

seems odd your dealer can't get anything. If a product doesn't come to him, how can he sell it?

This may be the case. Sometimes Piaggio and vespa take their sweet time delivering scooters, even ones that have 30% deposits down!

Or maybe your dealer just wants to sell what he has in stock and is paying for?

Are you stuck with just 1 dealer?

With that information I think I'd steer you to the PCX 150. I have two friends with the bikes and one with a PCX 125 and all three of them love their bikes.

I went on a trip with the friend on the PCX125 and while his top speed was slower than the 250's that were on the trip with us he killed them on hills and corners.

If you're considering the Blur and the HD200 why not also look at the SYM Citycom 300i (262 cc)?

Unless you meant no more than 4000cc, in which case you could consider a Confederate X132 Hellcat. That'll get you half way there...

Where in WI are you? I know for sure there's at least 4-5 dealers all in south eastern / central wisconsin. Milwaukee, Racine, Lake Geneva, and Madison all have a scooter shop with Genuine scooters. I was at the LG shop a few weeks ago and they had the Blur.

My Sym HD 200 topped out at a GPS recorded 68 mph so for its 172cc engine size, yes, it is a fast scooter. But, is it a "blast to ride"? I'm not really sure what that means. Anyway, I sold it because I like the feel, lighter weight, smaller turning radius and the looks of my Buddy 170i more. Yes, it's a bit slower than the Sym HD 200 but neither bike was meant for prolonged Interstate cruising. As such, my vote would go to the Buddy 170i.

I had essentially the same questions as you when I went kicking tires. Several folks steered me toward the Honda PCX150 (actual 153cc).

After posting questions about its ability to do sustained 50+ cruising, I finally went out and bought one.

Other owners report that it is limited to 68mph at the top end. I'm still breaking it in, so it hasn't really been wound out as yet (though I did allow myself a brief run at 55), but I can say that the acceleration is very impressive. I've not seen acceleration like this among the many other sub-250cc scoots I've had. This thing - for a little four-stroke - just gets up and flies.

The other impressive property which I'd not seen mentioned anywhere was its "leanability"; cornering at speed enabled by low C.O.G., slender profile, and light weight - if I was inclined to do so, I really think putting a knee down would be no problem.

One downside is the absurdly short valve clearance inspection interval - 2500 miles - which is mystifying; perhaps it's because it is a (again, relatively) high-performing two-valve engine that Honda engineers expected users would be regularly "hammering".

Valve checks/adjustments will require that nearly all the tupperware come off, which will make it expensive to have done by the dealer, so (thanks to the tutorials avilable on the PCX forum (http://www.hondapcx.org/index.php ), I'll be getting a set of plastic panel tools from Harbor Freight and doing those (after the first service) myself. Some users report that 2500 mile intervals are not needed.

I hate the slopey, too-short seat, and immediately removed the bolt-on butt-stop "hump". That left two bulbous structural moldings under the vinyl that I will cut out, but flat aftermarket seats are available from a good vendor in Thailand that are reasonably priced. Shipping is not heinous.

The pet carrier is commodious, but there is no "flat floor" as with traditional scooter-shaped scooters, or much other native storage. I have a set of cheap ATV-style throw-over bags on order to help with grocery runs.

Give it a look!

EDIT: the PCX150 is 'reportedly' putting out 13hp!

I forgot to mention that the real reason I sold my Sym HD 200 was its uncomfortable seat (for me anyway) on longer rides. I did a 70 mile round trip on some back country paved roads and on the way back my butt was really feeling sore. After I got back home I was passing blood in my urine. Not a whole lot but it was definitely noticeable and a bit disconcerting. So, the bike got sold. If you do decide to go with a Sym HD 200 I would highly recommend one of those sheepskin/gel seat pads for MCs available online or get yourself some bicycle shorts that have a padded area where you sit. I could have done this with my Sym but I guess I was looking for an excuse to dump it and get my Buddy 170i. So far, no seat problems but the longest round-tripper has been 60 miles. Still, at 60 miles on my Sym I was feeling VERY uncomfortable.

How about an RV200? Reported 72mph max speed, 4-valve engine like the HD200 Evo, redlines over 9K. It has smaller wheels (13" in front, 12" in rear) and a huge under seat storage space. Water-cooled and dual disc brakes with a Buell-style rim-mount rotor up front. MSRP is $3699. It essentially does what the Kymco Yager did, only a little better.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

You will not see 0 - 60 numbers anywhere. Not even 0 - 80 kmph times. Some scoots will list top speed (my old HD200 listed 75mph, but that doesn't account for Speedo error). If you want quick, fast (high top speed), and under 4k, look for a used GT250.

If this discussion is about scooters in the 200-400cc range that are fun because they are fast - seems like the BV350 would have to be part of the discussion. It has the most powerful engine in this class of bike, great brakes and handling, long service intervals, etc. Now whether that bike is for you is a different discussion. Sure would not hurt to find out a little about them, and sit on one to see about fit and ergonomics for you.

Here is a straight forward and unbiased review of the BV350, comparing it to the Kymco 300i.

I have a 2009 HD-200 (15,000+ miles) I love it.
Nice large wheels make for a smother ride in comparison to the Buddy with small wheels.
