I scoot again!

Post by amyrob56 »

Well, went to finalize the paperwork Monday on ordering the 170i Pamplona and was told I could have a Mocha in stock for $350 less - I say "no problem" and they gave me the one with 0 miles rather than the one with 130 miles! Scooter Therapy Rocks! Set it all up with low profile "Psycho" seat, rack and basket and I took it home last night. very fun ride home and great commute to work this AM. I beat a big cruiser off a light and parked in the Big Boy cycle parking with the cruisers and crotch rockets this morning. Can't wait for ride home tonight ... may have to take the long way home. Now he/she just needs a name.... :D

Sweet! I'm not fond of the Mocha either but I once bought a drum set that didn't have a glossy wrap just mocha colored wood and It was sooo hideous at first glance, but grew on me. I LOVED that set. Too bad I sold it only to buy the same set 6 years later but different color. I still think that mocha set had a better sound. Anyway enjoy the scoot.....

Mocha

Post by amyrob56 »

I'm Ok with the Mocha - acutally was my 2nd choice. And it must have been fate becuase I ordered a Tourmaster Trinity jacket in brown and it looks really great with the scoot. Am I now in the fashionista pack?

After getting acquainted over a couple days I think her name is "Lottie"

get it?

I may be one of the few that likes the Mocha. Maybe it is a more mature color combination :P I had to settle for the green because that's what the scooter shop had at that moment, and I like the green just fine. Congratulations on your scooter! Ride safe.

I like the Mocha color too but I went with the olive green Italia color when I bought my 170i last December. Both scooters were sitting side by side and it was almost a case of flipping a coin to decide on the color. For obvious reasons, I named mine "The Olive Pit" but if I had gone with the Mocha one, hmmm..........yes, that would have been more of a challenge.
Re. your low profile Psycho seat, sounds interesting. Is it completely interchangeable with the stock seat and where would one obtain one? TIA,

When I stopped by the 1st time and was "trying on" scooters the manager mentioned the psycho had a low profile seat and he would swap it out if I wanted it on a different scoot. I didn't realized until it was installed that it says Psycho on it! But that is OK. You can also order a low profile seat per another clerk - only in black but it is interchangeable with the standard seat. About $107 I think he said. It lowered me about 1 1/2 to 2 inches - enought to go from balls of feet to flat footed. (I'm 5 feet nothing...)

Congrats on your new scoot! Nice color combo too--one you won't see on the road as much  .

Make sure to sign up for the MSF course, if you haven't already, and get that book "Proficient Motorcycling"....lots of good advice in both places!

Have tons of fun, and ride safe. :D

I'll have to post a pic. Still waiting for photo with "Lottie" and me in my new matching jacket.

My other ride is a Honda 750 Shadow Aero - purchased last fall on my 56th birthday! Rode for the 2nd time this spring yesterday and was finally comfortable (read "Not Terrified") at 55MPH on a state highway. I think that is as fast as I'll ever need to go. Not sure the interstate is in my future.

Hubby and I have the Patrolman videos and watch and practice our slow moves in an empty parking lot every so often.

Wow! I'm impressed--a 750. The biggest cc I've ridden/owned to date is 500cc. I started riding bikes in 2009. I think I've been up to 75 or 80, but that was more of a "how quick can my Scarabeo speed up?" thing, than something I would normally do. :P

I'm happy to see I'm not the only lady in her 50s riding bikes/scooters on the forum. :D

Waiting for the picture!

Weirdly, I don't like any of the Buddy 170i colors much at all...but I bet if I had one for a few weeks I'd grow to love whatever color I had.

Congratulations on your scooter. I bet you'll have a great time with Lottie.

Seems I should have chosen the Mocha one as I just got through finalizing the purchase of a 2010 MINI Cooper Clubman in a color that they call "Hot Chocolate" but it could have easily been called "Mocha". A car and a scooter the same color. Wow. And, it could have been me!
