I picked up a used 2009 Buddy last fall, and it came with a Genuine top case that was not mounted on the scooter at the time. I seem to recall it opened and closed just fine back then. Its been sitting on a shelf for several months. I went to install it today, but it wouldn't open up.
It appears the case is locked when the keyhole is vertical, then unlocked when it is horizontal, since I can press the lock in when horizontal. However, nothing seems to be working. Is there some step I forgot, or is the lock messed up somehow? I flexed the box enough to get a small flashlight pointed in to look at the mechanism, and it looks like nothing is releasing when I turn the key. I also tried pressing in on the lock, and pushing down on the lid in case there was too much tension on the latch. Any ideas?
Never mind - just figured out its unlocked when the lock is vertical. I just needed to press harder to get it to open.
