Furthest ridden in a day.
Hello all:
I've got a 2005 Vespa PX150 2t and I really like it. My question should apply to the Stella 2t.
I'm thinking of doing a St. Louis rally this October and wondered about the reality of actually going from Kansas City to there in a day. Is a trip of 250 or so miles on this scoot doable? I've ridden it about 100 miles in a day and it wore me out from all the shifting and vibration.
A friend of mine has a Chinese 150 that actually runs pretty good. He told me his top speed is between 45 and 55. Most of the roads to St. Louis are around that speed. He and I will probably ride over together.
Any thoughts or comments? What is the furthest you've ridden on your Stella in a day and how did you feel after? Any tips or pointers on how to make it less of a pain? I'm not new to the world of scoots, just new to the world of the shifty.
I plan on a few practice runs of 100 or so miles just to get ready for it.

Ahhhhhh --- knarp! That's what those things are called. My clutch cable broke on the way to work this morning.... and I lost the knarp, since that's where the cable broke. I'm thankful I had the spare cable in the glovebox, but a pair of small vicegrips is acting as the cable stop at the moment. I'm going to get the proper part at lunch, but the vicegrips got me through the last mile to work.
I should have just replaced the cable last week when the clutch lever started getting squishy. 3200 miles on the bike. Not sure if it's the first cable, since I bought it 2nd hand. Sorry to go off on a tangent from the OP........

Hi SonnyD, good talking with you yesterday at Scooter WorldSonnyD wrote:I don't have a Stella so I can't answer, I was just Happy to see someone else from Overland Park on here, LOLOLOL

I had my dealer order a complete set of cables that I'll keep in the glove box. I also have a spare plug and inner tube, though I wonder the real need to carry one of those around with me. I think the cable set has those pinch bolts everyone is talking about. If not...
Oh, and it looks like I need to add a set of vice grips to the mix. My roll of duct tape is doubling as a cup holder in the box.
I do believe I'll take a ride to the White Castle in Columbia MO. Round trip is 340 miles. Can I get a WOOT!

I carry a spare tube with me. The one time I had a flat at a rally, it gave me something to do after dinner that night. That way I had my spare again in the AM when we rolled out
...but that is just me.
I have done some 300+ mile days on mine. The seat is cheap foam, there are better seat available. I solve the problem with a fold-over seat pad that I flop on top of the seat for long trips

Speed is only a matter of money...How fast do you want to go?
