(NBR) Scooter Haiku

First, I admit that the germ of this idea was from reading a thread on Modern Vespa that is several years old.

The Sky Island Riders scooter club just finished a Scooter haiku writing contest. It's so hot in Tucson this time of year that lots of folk aren't riding much. I though I would try something scooter related that could be done in air conditioning. Everyone was encouraged to submit scooter-related haiku poems. I then had a couple of judges judge them and givem me a list of winners and honorable mentions.

Great idea, Howard! Clearly you got folks going with that project, especially Stan Scott who penned my favorite submission.

Spot on. I'd submitted something similar in honor of my Riva 180:

Insert key press Start
Stubborn beast will not breathe fire
Another day then

This might sound like a poke at Howardr's lousy RV250 situation, but it's not. It's about SYM's stance in the US since the beginning:

SYM makes a good scoot
Alliance makes a bad choice
No parts too often

I have no idea what a haiku poem is. I'm guessing that anything beginning with "There once was a man from Nantucket" won't work. Unfortunately, that's about the extent of my poetic creativity.

Off to do a google search.

True story, still have no idea what the heck kind of bug that was.

Pulled up to gas pump
I spent more time ungearing
Than pumping my gas.

That's pretty much an every day (that I gas up) thing.

Pumping my gas fast
SUV owner is too
"How fast does that go?"

That's never the real question they want to ask.

The true zen of this haiku is that the weather is indirectly referenced, you know the weather in the cager's brain that is about to change from foggy to unsettled.

Yeah, that's the PG version I was thinking of.

How about:

Long extended winters
Nonsensical Haiku poems
Come to an end and lets ride

And that's all tongue in cheek. Just wondering it that fits? I'm not a Haiku hater ... although I can't say I really understand these, some are interesting.
