Stella Noob

Post by CountryJustice »

I feel like I need to straddle a fence here, because I recently picked up a Stella...

Image

...that isn't really a Stella.

Sure, that's a 2003 Stella body/chassis, but hiding under the right cowl is actually a Vespa P200 engine.

I was in the market for a Stella and stumbled on this and couldn't turn it down. It was modded by the original owner, Michael Reese in San Diego, who raced it, so I'm told. It also has a reed-valve carb and Sito Plus pipe on it. It was later sold to the guy who I bought it from, who included a Malossi exhaust, but I'll be honest, I'm almost afraid to put it on.

So yeah, that's that. I've had it less than a week, and I'm afraid this grin on my face might never come off. Looking forward to being part of the group here. :)

Thanks! I don't know much about the provenance of the engine. Any way I can at least determine a year?

It's still a Stella. Just a motor swap.
"Stella" is Latin for "use threadlocker on all fasteners"

If you can find a serial number on that engine, you might find something here: http://www.scooterhelp.com/serial/ves.s ... mbers.html

Cheers, thanks for that. I guess somewhere there's a 1978 P200E missing it's engine. :)
