Questions re "crash bar with foot pegs" add on...

I've been trying to get a good look at how this situates itself on the scooter after attachment.

Specifically, what I am wondering is now it attaches at the floorboard

AND

is the driver able to use the foot pegs as a comfortable alternative resting spot for their own feet while cruising?

Any experiences/comments with it welcomed and thanks!

The foot pegs use slightly longer bolts that replace the rear-most ones holding the original passenger foot rests down to the body. That's the only place they attach. They don't actually attach to the floorboard. The front bit of the pegs unit might rest on the floorboard for some, but mine don't due to the angles it was welded at. Not a big deal. It certainly wouldn't break if anyone were to put any serious weight on it. Mine "float" by a couple centimeters.

I find them annoying as heck, but they've already proven their worth for me as an extra place to tie down awkward cargo. I personally don't think I could use them as alternate foot placement for myself, at least not comfortably.

Once I actually get them attached to my Buddy, I'll let you know - my dealer gave me the crash bars when they came in, but forgot the footrest until a few days later when he said "oh wait, I think you might be missing something" and gave them to me - after I'd attached the crash bars, heh. So far I'm getting used to the extra width - while it's an inch or so on each side where the bars stick out, it's still an inch that wasn't there last week, and I keep banging my legs into them. That's my only annoyance so far.

Do you think the crash bar sides would be a protective plus for adding saddle bags or get in the way and cause them to stick out to the side?

That's a good question - I don't think it'd make the saddlebags stick out too terribly much, but I don't have any saddlebags handy to test it out.

They didn't get in the way of my saddlebags, but then I don't put my saddlebags on like most people do. I sit them on top of the seat, preferring them to ride higher. If you ran your saddlebags under the seat, that might be another story.

I tried to put my feet on my foot pegs when I had them installed, but found it way too awkward also, and I agree that it adds another nice place to tie down to.

I had the foot pegs on my Buddy but I didn't like them. The main problem was that they got in the way when duck walking the scooter around.

I took off the pegs but left the bars. No problem with saddle bags and the bars.

That's exactly it for me too. I think half of the Buddy owners have a spare set. I'll give you mine if you want them .

I didn't have that problem, but I'm 5'4", so maybe I'm just the right height where that isn't the issue...or maybe I just have a longer inseam...?

I just decided having the extra tie down wasn't worth the extra floor board space I lost...and then I came up with my own floor board tie downs so had no reason to keep them just for that any more. I never have a passenger.

Same as craftynerd and buddyraton. They were catching on my pants and I kept banging into them. I took them off. I keep them just in case.....

I think the junction of the cowl bars and the stock foot plates alone looks a bit lame. Therefore I kept the passenger pegs on. Should your scoot tip over, they do a good job of helping the cowl bars keep from scratching the scoot.

The combo looked like it would prevent most minor damage in a simple spill.

Now, if only there was a simple way to use that part to turn them into 'cruising' pegs .
