Posting from Varanasi at the moment! Kind of wild to be here. Wishing I knew a little more about scooters as there must be millions of them here. I believe I recall that the Stella was made here?
Main ones seem to be Bajaj. I am seeing the occasional vespa LML. I am also seeing the occasional Piaggio, who also seems to make some of the microtrucks. Also see a bunch of Hondas and soem "Sportys" which loook like a cheap chinese one like we might get at autozone
Anything I should be on the lookout for? I got some pics of a red and white APY? scooter, mainly b/c I thought it was cool.
If I can somewhere, I will try to post some of the traffic video I intend to get, it is really pretty wild here. Much to my surprise I have not seen an accident, though I am very sure that would change i I tried to drive.
Yep. The Stellas are LML products...made in India as are the Bajaj products. Vespa LML's were made there as well. Piaggio also makes a 3-wheeled mini-truck called the Ape (ah-pay).
I'm looking forward to seeing whatever pix you take. I guess if I were choosing, I'd like to see scooters with colorful or exotic paintjobs or decorations and scooters carrying huge loads like whole families and such.

Thanks for writing! In addition to the above, any pix of really crappy scooter transportation would be interesting too. The junkiest, most trashed-out scooter being used to get around.

a little bit of both. I came out for a conference, and then have been tagging along with my wife as she visits old friends of hers. (She spent about a year here).
I will post pics when I am on a computer where I can work a little more.
