Belt replacment? When?

Post by Leeroy Jenkins »

IIRC I cant find any info in the manuals on a replacement interval on the drive belt.

Anybody know when to replace it?

Has anyone broken a belt? Mileage?

What is the most miles seen on a single stock belt?

Aftermarket options?

My scoot's over at Eastside Scooters right now for my 4K service and the belt hardly looks like it's seen a day of usage.

Dave and I were really surprised.

Peace,

Do you know the condition of your roller weights? Flat spots?

The roller weights didn't look too bad. It looked like some spots were starting to show up, but i'm sure they could make it a bit longer.

However, since i had them add the prima exhaust, we're changing the rollers anyway. Scooterworks now has a 'performance kit' that they recommend with the pipe. i'm so anxious to hit the road and see if there's a noticable difference.

I'm also adding the tubeless whitewalls.

peace,

Be sure to let me know what you think of the new system.

I have been thinking of bolting on the same kit.

Hey not to hijack the thread but Leroy and Shane- I used to live in nashville and I'm headed back for a visit tomorrow... Is East Side scooters worth a stop? I mean, not to buy anything obviously, but is it a cool place to see?

The rollers on the Buddy seem pretty resilient—people are getting a lot of miles on a single set! If you don't feel or hear anything, I'd say check around 4500 miles. Maybe swap 'em around 6K or so. If you do go with a performance variator or other brand rollers, be aware that some are softer than others and wear differently.
