That is odd for a rear tire change. If there was any reason the front tire/wheel/brake or fork was removed or the top cover to replace or adjust the headlamp I would say check the speedo cable at the bottom of the speedometer. That has been known to come loose or come off when any of the parts mentioned have been worked on and should only require tightening the cable housing. What ever you do don’t use Loctite red and get it inside on the cable. That will leave you high and dry for sure.
The back tire makes no sense. What else did the shop do? I would be calling them and tell them what has happened to see if something else was worked on even if they didn’t write it up or charge you.
Anyone have any ideas?

Speedo Cable Connection
I would skip the lower end as the speedo cable seems to unscrew at the speedometer quite a bit more often from what we have experienced and seen.

Follow the first few steps skipping changing the bulb. Really follow what is said about the end tabs you have to open one at a time, very gently, do not rush this part. It can be tricky. You don’t need to unplug your headlamp at this time unless you want to upgrade the bulb while you are in there.
Note the comments about the speedo cable as you go. At step 6 just look at the picture and notice under the red arrow towards the left end you will be looking at where the cable is connected to the speedometer housing. If it is not connected or very loose you may want to pull it apart and make sure the end of the cable fits up inside the housing without forcing it so it is not jammed, otherwise just be sure it is snug – a bit more than just finger tight.
