Can we have more NSR threads?

Post by KrispyKreme »

Modern Vespa is a thriving community. I don't want to know what underwear you like, but FFS. It's a bit stiff in here. No pun intended. I find that hilarious since many on MV are Brits, the originators of "stiff".

As an example.- "I had a nice salad today. I put crumbled goat cheese on it. It tasted like ass."

MV sure puts the general in General Discussion! Some of those threads are waaaay out there.

I perceive MV as a slightly different culture than MB and it's pretty cool how MB has grown and evolved over the years as a genial, helpful community. Maybe the folks here aren't as socially assertive as they are on MV, but you gotta admit that it is nice that we don't need aggressive moderation here or a karma system to keep people on their best behavior.

We do have [NSR] and [NBR] tags for the sort of threads that you're looking for. It doesn't hurt to bait a hook and cast a line to see if it's a topic that folks want to discuss, but please review the posting guidelines before you reach into that can of worms...

What are you feelings on the forward pass?

Here is a thing. I sing it in my helmet when I get bored. Observe and discuss:

No one's stopping you.

But guess what the number one complaint about MV is? Too much NSR nonsense. It can get out of hand quickly, and can lead to a need for heavier moderation. That's one of the other big complaints about MV.

People can post what they like, just stick to the Guidelines.

Eric, the spec things I learn in here are second to none.

Nice finish with that Helix. Hondas don't quit.

I spend a fair amount of time on MV and I agree with that criticism 100%. Who needs to hear some jackass spout off about his/her favorite rant (on a scooter site). If you want to talk about scooters - ANY aspect of scooters - well great. Something else? Can't you find some other place to talk about it. For gosh sake, get a life!

One more bit of NSR weirdness for for y'all. Sing along when you ride and forgot your digital music at home:

http://www.weebls-stuff.com/songs/kenya/

Holy Crap. Lions!

P.S. I find in highly amusing that the spellchecker recognizes "y'all" as a properly spelled word.

P.P.S. I swear I have a life! It's parked out under it's cover for the night and the key is on the dresser.

What is this "winter" thing of which you speak?

One big difference is that there are thousands of Vespas that have like 600 miles after 8 years. Buddy owners and all other Genuine owners ...we ride the snot out of our scooters!

I picked up a 2011 Blur to flip...so what happened...I've put about 1,000 miles on it...it's just to0 freaking fun to ride!

Femsatronic: 6V CDI fitted to the Rally 200 engines. used a uniquely-tapered crank and special fan-side bearing. Mostly shite and difficult to find parts for. Swapping to Ducati requires a replacement fly-side case half on a VSE1 motor.

Ducati: 12V CDI fitted to the late-'76-on Rally 200s and to the P-series. What can I say, It's Italian, yet it works!

Dangit, now you're making this [NBR]!

Before buying my scooter, I was really into my Harley-Davidson Sportster. Ever hang out on a Sportster forum? It's easily 50% very useful technical information, and 50% complaining about how the Sportster is perceived as a "girl's motorcycle".

I prefer forum sites like this over other social media because I do want to read and post about specific subjects. I like limited content.
