Need help with wiring for integrated brake/taillight unit

Post by NotJohnDenver »

I'm installing this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PC ... ailpages00 integrated rear brake/turn signal unit on my 2012 Geunine Roughhouse 50 (which according to this: topic26404.html post should fit fine). I have it on the bike but I'm trying to hook up the electrical and having some trouble figuring out how it's all supposed to hook up.

Here: http://imgur.com/lfPm0vv is the integrated unit wiring. There are 5 total wires.
Here: http://imgur.com/JfFMuEe is the scooter's rear brake wiring, I need an adapter and not sure what I need or how the colors match up.
Here: http://imgur.com/1RtFKTu is one of the pairs of turn signal wires. The connector types match up, but I don't know which colors match and there's not enough wires coming out of the integrated unit to match up.
Here: http://imgur.com/kX2tDl7 is the other pair of turn signal wires. Again, the connectors match up, but I don't know which colors match and the number of wires coming out of the integrated unit doesn't match the scooter's number of wires.

I know I'm close to finishing this modification, I just need a little help to get things wrapped up :)

Okay so I found the manual and that helps with matching up the wires. I'm not really familiar but the diagram seems to make enough sense.

For the turn signals, there is a black wire for each pair, so I'm assuming that's the ground wire. Seems the black wire for the running/brake lamp wires would be the ground for the running/brake lamp.

I also looked on the Amazon site a little more and found this info about the integrated unit:
Wiring:
Ground = Black
Brake Light = Red
Running Light = White
Turn Signals = Yellow/Green

Now that I know how the colors match up, I have two questions:

1. What type of adapter do I need to connect the running lamp/brake wires from the integrated unit to the scooter?

2. Can I leave the turn signal ground connectors open, or do I need to close that loop somehow?

If you're replacing your rear signals with those on the unit you're buying, you will probably run into a resistance problem. You can buy a flasher unit that will replace your stock flasher. This will allow LED turn signals to work.
