My wife totalled her Buddy 125 on friday when a truck cut her off while making turn accross traffic on our way to "Psycho Suzy's" (a local tiki themed bar) for my birthday lunch. With the amount of steering damage the scoot is totalled im sure, Jocelyn has bad case of roadrash from doing the superman thru the intersection but is up and walking around. The other driver stopped and waited for the police/EMTs to arrive, provided his info and asked we needed help getting the scoot home after she was released by the EMTs. So all in all a terrible day that could have been much, much worse and I am thankful for the quick reponce of the police/emt's and the integrity other driver for stopping and not driving away.

So glad that your wife will recover. That is some scary stuff, and getting cut off is a very real danger all scooterosts face. I am impressed that the other driver was such a stand-up person. So many stories of hit and run type situations.
I hope your wife is on the mend very soon. I hope insurance replaces the scoot (if that's something you want).
I hope your birthdays in the future are far more tranquil in the future.
You and your wife take care and good for you for counting your blessings!
Progressive's motorcycle specialist is gonna call monday and she has started looking for another Buddy 125, i am proud of her for not being scared of riding another scoot
Wow! I'm glad your wife is OK after that ordeal. And yes, she is pretty brave to want to get another scooter after the accident. Just curious, what kind of helmet was she wearing? Probably a good idea to get a new one even if the old one looks OK.
Yes, the other driver was ticketed and she was wearing my Bell pit boss sport helmet to see what the difference was between that and her Bell riot helmet, now I am going to order the Bell rogue to replace my damaged pit boss.

Of course, you can wear what you want, but if your wife had had even the 3/4 Riot on she wouldn't have gotten the road rash around her eye.

Glad she's OK!
Mind if I ask what year yours was and what Progressive paid out?
I have a 2012 Psycho 125 and also have Progressive.
I got $1759 after the deductible for a 2007 buddy 125 with 16,082 miles, but that also includes the upgraded rear rack, the Putco Nitelux h4 headlight bulb, and the chrome front fender that was on it. They did a average of other buddy 125's in my area to get that price but since I purchased it for $300, plus $200 in parts to make it roadworthy again I am not too sad about it, But I will end up paying about $1500 to $1800 to replace it.

Beautiful! And crazy low milage for an 11 year old ride. Gotta love those "whim" buy scooters that never get used (I assume you checked all the things that time will do...)

Yeah, I really dig the tutone. Everything checked out, the guy just installed new tires last year due to ozone cracking in the treads so no worries there and he had current receipts for the last 3 years of service work done, so I should be good to go but I am still gonna change the fluids to be safe (Minnesota's hard on vehicles when they sit more than they are driven)
but I am happy to have my riding partner back and just in time for "Back to the 50's" weekend.
