Nothing else RIP this all down. Tear it down so no one will ever know it was here. If there is no song in the next 24 hours do so.

Band called "Little Barrie". You may notice the song's riff from "Better call Saul". It's live and I always respect a live take on a song if done right.

Best song writer IMHO, Syd, is Mr. Warren Zevon.

As the story goes, Tom Waits says he could have gone on singing ballads (think Heart of Saturday Night). Then his wife introduced him to the music of Capt Beefheart. He changed his mind.

Not sure Root Boy ever did acid, he seemed more of a booze and downers kind of guy. But I doubt he ever turned anything down, either!OBX Dan wrote:Wow. Interesting dude and band. Side note, I was offered LSD the other day. I turned it down being in my 40s and the fact that I haven't done it in over a decade. This band makes me reconsider taking him up on it.
And imagine, he was at Yale (yes, that Yale) with George W Bush.

Hah!! Yeah some musicians and bands sometimes come from top shelf education. Still debating whether to talk to Uncle Sid....my boy gets back in town late august and I'll have some time off work. I'll keep you posted.Syd wrote:Not sure Root Boy ever did acid, he seemed more of a booze and downers kind of guy. But I doubt he ever turned anything down, either!OBX Dan wrote:Wow. I'll leave this song here because before a trip you must clear your mind of negative thoughts and energy or it will go south.

Mink DeVille had quite an impression on me when I was younger. They were a melodic band in the age of punk.

One more for today. The Punch Brothers put on the best show I have ever seen. But that's me. Better live, but really good here too.

I liked that era very much. A band that doesn't get enough recognition(maybe I'm just old and most people don't know who the frak I am talking about) is DEVO. Super tight musically. Most people just remember "whip it", but the album "Q:Are we not men? A:We are DEVO" is an amazing album that should be listened to in its entirety in one sitting.
Nice live clip here. Give it a go!

According to Wikipedia, Adrian Belew was playing in a Beatles cover band somewhere in Kentucky when Frank Zappa's driver told him he needed to see this kid. Zappa went to see the band and hired Adrian almost on the spot. Adrian played with Zappa for a while, then got hired by David Bowie, who he toured with for some time. Then it was Talking Heads and a solo career. This is his only "hit" song out of a couple dozen good/great albums.

I've been listening to this song since I was a young man. It's not her song (John Prine, best songwriter ever #3?), but Bonnie has a sweet voice.

Back in the 80's I liked Split Enz. Later I liked Crowded House better.

Johnny's last albums with Rick Rubin were outstanding, especially this song.

Jonathan Richman is one weird guy, he started playing Velvet Underground type music, then he changed.
