A spot for a Coffee Cup

Post by JoshuaKane »

Hello:

I have a friend who has a Vespa and theyhave the very nice front "glove box" that allows them to store a stainless style coffee mug in the front of the scooter for transport. I was thinking this was really neat, and was wondering if anyone has seen an adaptor or holder of some sort for the buddy that will accomplish the same thing?

Well many coffee mugs will fit in the left side of the Buddy's glovebox. Two problems- one, they tend to slip back, and two if the seal on them is not so great they leak and can spill on you.

As for problem number one, I bought one of these glovebox organizers from robonz23 here on this board and it's been rocking.

It holds my phone and iPod and has a cupholder to keep my coffee mug from slipping back into the glovebox. I still haven't found the ultimate sealed mug though.

I totally recommend getting one of those organizers.

OXO makes a coffee mug that will not spill. It's fantastic! Costs about $20, I think I got mine at Linens and Things... or Bed Bath and Beyond. One of those places. http://www.oxo.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpSctDs ... spid=53057 This is the whole lineup of what thaey have.

I second this. And I don't use a mug, I use a Contigo thermos.

I had a small drink fit in the last without wobbling back and forth, I was worried if it would spill though, you know those cheap thin plastic lids....luckily the ride home was smooth :)

Yeah it's not fun when a cup in there leaks or spills. Liquid even just dripping out of a cup at that location + 40mph winds = all over you.

i'm a big fan of leak proof coffee mugs, the kind you can turn upside down and nothing comes out. throw it in the glove box or the drink holder of a backpack... i have a stainless steal one from Nissan I got off Amazon.

and if you always use a refillable cup instead of paper, in one year you can apparently save a tree.

So you guys are so sportin you can drink coffee and ride at the same time? I got a LOT to learn, technique-wise. Once at a red light I took a slug from my water bottle, dropped the lid trying to screw it back on and had to hop off, side stand in play, to retrieve the lid. It was a nice long light.

Haha, I wear a FF helmet so no, I don't drink the coffee but I like to make it at home and bring it in to work.

I did find out yesterday that it's totally possible to sip a fountain drink through a straw at a light even with a FF helmet on though!

yeah, i have a policy against drinking and riding. =)

but with the stainless steel i can take a hot bev from home to the park or from work to school. those 3-hour evening grad classes would kill me without caffeine.

and on longer trips, it's nice to ride for bit, then stop, stretch, and have some caffeine.

During the summer I rock a ginormous water mug in my milk crate that I can hop off the seat, hold the GTS up with my left hand, and lean down while still wearing my helmet and chug away at a red light...I'm sure people wonder why the chubhby guy in front/next to them is resting his chin on the edge of his milk crate :?

^This mug + my Italia = awesome

I usually just throw a stainless steel "bullet" thermos in the seat box, but I'd like to use a mug if I could find one that fits snugly in the glove box.
