2019 Buddy Kick 125i

Post by npelezo9 »

Wow oh wow this has been a journey so far.
I came into a 2019 Buddy Kick 125i. Picking up some stuff on Facebook that I bought with a U-Haul, noticed the scooter with no ignition, half put together. I told the person I can order a new one and put it on for him. Instead he offered to sell it, "tired of working on it". So I loaded it up in my U-Haul with the title and brought it home. It was previously stolen and he was able to get it back. He tried fixing it but was not able to. "Checked credentials".

I ordered the ignition, installed it and tried to turn it over. The battery was shorted on the inside, so I got a new one from Walmart.
Went home, installed the new battery, the next challenge was finding out why the anti-theft would not deactivate. After spending a few hours
tinkering with it, I leaned on the anti-theft switch and for a second the bike flashed and made some new noises. After pushing on it again I was able to determine the anti-theft switch in the compartment is bad. Twisted those wires together after reading the diagram.
Next step was getting it to turn over. She would turn over, but I could not hear the fuel pump.
Following the wiring diagram I was able to determine the Fuel pump relay was getting power before and after along with the main relay. I tried to jump the fuel pump straight to the battery "fuel line open" and I can hear the fuel pump click but not whir. I tried a bit of starter fluid and she cranked up for a second giving me hope. Air, Ignition, but not fuel.

I removed the fuel line to the tank and pulled the injector, I sprayed some starter fluid inside the injector and turned it over, giving me a good spray pattern.

Now all that's left is the fuel pump.

Power but no flow. I stuck a zip tie inside to see if anything was gunked up and nothing.

Now the actual question.

Where can I get a fuel pump for this thing because I have searched everyyyyyyyyyyyyyyywhere.

I know the Zuma 125, the bug-eye addition, was prone to fuel pumps taking random dumps. Vespa has a spell with them as well. Sometimes technology can be a pain. But glad you got it sorted. I like that orange. That kid is eyeing it up for a joy ride!
