Funny events of today on my scooter

Before going out on the big roads with high speeds, I always take my buddy for a trip around the neighborhood, just a small "second" warm up plus a nice care free stroll.

So theres been this teenage girl who rides her bike in this same neighborhood, and everytime she see's me she waves or screams something I cant hear (helmet and scooter engine doesnt help me hear any better). So after about a week of this, today I just came home, but when I took my neighborhood stroll on my scooter, I see her! And then she screams

"HEY SCOOTER GUY, STOPPPP!!!!!"

So I finally decide to stop. And she smiles and says "I like your scooter, it's soo cool! I love orange bikes! Wish I could afford a scooter, I'm just a highschool student, no job"

So I said thanks, and rode off, once she has tried to stop me by jumping into the road, she screamed "I LOVE YOU", but I swerved away, dont wanna cause an accident now do I.....

Anyways, that's my story! Oh yeah, and she said I looked cool with my gear on

I've had people where I work ask who's scooter is outside, I tell the customer "Oh thats mine!"

They really like to look at my bike

maybe the more people who I talk to about scooters, the more scooters around town

Same deal here... co-workers are always asking me little questions and always trying to direct the conversation so I'll talk about it more! They are surprisingly interested. It is parked where I can see it from the door and customers are always doing the double-take. With one guy it was like a tractor beam, he was staring at it but still walking & he ran into some carts! Awesome, my Bud's looks are definitely distracting... in a good way.

I know a couple of the customers who buy food, they always ask me, where my scooter is, how nice it is, how many mpg, all those usual questions.

But I never get tired talked about my buddy!

based on this information, my boyfriend will never be allowed to own a scooter.

much like he is not allowed to run with our miniature schnauzer puppies at zilker park. scoots and pups = huge chick magnets.

just to cut your boyfriend some slack, i've never had anyone ask about my scoot ever except from people i already knew. maybe i'm not that approachable, maybe i'm moving too fast!

My wife rides a pink Buddy 125 and women of all ages really like it. They yell at her all the time as she drives by them. We have had several people at work talk to us and one just bought a new Buddy 125 a couple of weeks ago. He will be riding his 15 miles to work this spring and summer. But I must admit they are chic magnets too.

i think scooters (and puppies) in general make people more attractive. who needs plastic surgery when you can get a buddy!

i can't wait til i get a wave from a harley rider. it will be a cherished moment for sure. i'll be a hot scooterin' momma.

...wish I coulda afforded a scoot at that age... I mean I'm still pretty young, but still. I was pretty cool back then tho, I think the Buddy would've put me over the top on the coolness factor (that is, had they made Buds back then).

Im still in high school and i just got my scoot like 3 weeks ago. anyways i work for my dad part time selling insurance and everyone at the office always give me crap for riding a scoot. i think it so funny because now everyone in the office wants to get a motorcycle and a couple of people are looking at getting scooters.

I was stuck in Denver traffic at about 9:15 pm (Avs game just got out?) on my way to the Denver skatepark. While I was in traffic for about 20 minutes, I started to notice people's reactions to me on the buddy. I was driving with my skateboard across the floorboard area ( I know, not the safest, but with practice it is kind of comfortable). I noticed a guy and his passenger point and smile at me. Later a woman in a pickup screamed out the window, "Heeyy Sexy!!!" It kinda scared me because I was not expecting it. I just waved and smiled.

17, 11th grade, got the job, got the debt already!

I had to jump on metro scooters sale when they had it, or else I'd be paying more for the scooter, so I bought my bike then and I am still paying back for it. Almost done. Once done, gotta either save for a car, or that new 2009 250cc maria. Gotta see how many MPG it gets though first, I'd hate to see it get 40-50 mpg because of the bigger engine. But hopefully it will be just as good or better than the stella's MPG.

lol. I am in my LATE 30's and high school boys often make a big woohoo etc when I am on the scooter. it is quite ridiculous! Of course I make it worse by beeping in response

today a lady stopped me as I was getting back on my scooter while it was still anti-parallel parked (perpendicular to the road next to the curb at the end of a parallel parking spot). She said it was the most "feminine thing" she has ever seen. She took a picture. Then she asked me about it and I got her email so I could refer her to the dealership. She said her birthday is this month and she wants one!

hopefully she'll be able to get one (and get thru the MSF course).

I've had quite a few younger kids stare at mine but only one high school girl who yelled out her car window "SCOOTER! THAT'S SO COOL!". Most folks my age think it's funny that I ride it and are seriously worried that I'll be travelling across country on it this fall.

Hilarious story. I get a lot of attention on mine, good and bad, of course. But mostly good. And when the scooter-lust-filled gals start flinging themselves at me, I flash my wedding ring at them and yell, "Restrain yourselves! For chrissakes, I'm married and too damn old for you anyways!" Then I hit the throttle and speed away.

This happens, maybe, once a week or so.

The more young people who see us and think we're so cool, the more they may think about buying a scooter one day, ya never know if theres a huge rush of scooters in your area in another 10-15 years.

Highschool boys my age or younger look at me and go "yeeeeeaaahhh" or "woooohooo vrooom vroom" I pass by along the time where the highschool bus drops off, so I always pass these same old fools. The girls usually just turn their heads and watch me ride away, but the guys point and laugh. When the bus drives away, I wish I could get off, park my bike, and just punch those guys sometimes, but we scooter people are friendly

Hah I'm kidding, but you had me going, I really thought it was for real, never did consider yesterday was april fools day, but you never know, Genuine may import these scooters to the US anyways in another 1-2 years.

A few days ago, I learned that a bunch of students were wondering who owns the scooter they always see chained up in front of the building. When they found out it was me, it was an avalanche of hyper exclamations of joy and pleasure. I don't think I've ever seen law students that happy! I told them they should all get scooters, duh.

When I'm out and about, I get a lot of middle-aged women on corners telling me, "You GO, girl!" So I...go! Heh.

Dudes on sportbikes have tried to chat me up, and some have tried to race me. My response is the same for both: try and catch me! And then I go r-e-a-l s-l-o-w.

sort of unrelated, but i didn't want to start a whole new thread for something so dumb...i had a dream last night that i was on my italia (that i don't yet own and have pre-emptively named Rupert, by the way) and we ran out of gas. and i had to walk him over to a gas station.

anyway, so yeah. the boyfriend is concerned about my obsession with finding Rupert at long last and having him be mine. i don't know, i guess what i'm trying to say is i find this all very freudian. at this point more than anything he's like an imaginary friend. no? i'm ridiculous. sorry ya'll.

Running out of gas on your scooter is almost impossible unless you're fuel line clogs/breaks or you purposely ride until you're out of gas. Pushing a 220 pound bike is a pain, the MSF made me push 400 pound bike, HARD.

But I still can see it possible, even on near empty, you can ride for a long time.

I've ran out of gas ONCE, when I first got my scooter & I was driving it to the station to fill up for the first time... It crapped out about 2 blocks away & I had to push it across the soggy, muddy shoulder.

If that didn't suck bad enough, I kept hitting the back of my calf on the center stand really hard

It was worth it to drive to the Honda/Yamaha dealer & let the scooter guy drool over it. He kept saying I LOVE IT! IT'S THE KING OF SCOOTERS!!! Every time I go in there he's always asking when I'm gonna sell it... DUH, never

How did I start talking about running out of gas? I thought we were talking about how everyone admires our scoots. The other day the folks & I went to McGuire's and the waitress says "thank you for riding scooters!" like it's a public service or something... I guess if you think about it, IT KINDA IS!!!

Trust me, they make TONS of money... They mostly just sell Honda motorcyles, but they also have a lot of ATVs, wave runners, and dirt bikes. The scooters are mostly Metros & vinos, in a little room in the back.

They are the only place I know of that even sells scooters around here (at least that sells decent ones, not cheapos).

I'm still trying to find a good way to carry my Sector 9 longboard on my scooter. I'm thinking I might have to rig something like a ladder truck - run it parallel to the bike on one side with the wheels tucked in.

I'd probably have to modify your own rear rack, and just have it slide in and stand up straight through the entire ride. With the current genuine rear rack, it's impossible.

Yeah, but tough to do in a way that doesn't block the brake light. That would not be a good thing. And at 46", it wouldn't be smart to tie it down sideways across the back rack either. I've thought about making it into a trailer. Ha! That doesn't sound safe! Maybe I should just get a tow rope and have somebody ride it from behind the scooter.

It's ok if it blocks the brake light, you'll just need a modded break light to connect to the back of the rack/board too

I've been wanting to do that since before I even got my Bud! So far I haven't got the chance... I was surprised someone was having the same problem as me! I thought maybe I could hook it to the rear rack, but have it tilted up in the back so instead of it being like a wing, it would more like a really long spoiler... It would make you a lot wider tho, but still more narrow than a car. You'd have to drive in the middle of the lane unless there's not a lot of traffic.

I also considered the 'fire truck ladder' idea & it would probably be best, but you'd have to really strap it down good (if you have one of the ones with an arched deck, that would be perfect). My sister has a curved one... mine's just straight, but it's quite a bit longer. I could rig my scoot to have one on each side... NICE!

One on each side would be awesome! Yeah, I've got a Bomb Hills deck so it's got a real deep curve to it. I always feel like I'm going to fall off of a flat deck. With the trucks and everything to tie to, if you had the mount points, I think you could tie it down pretty effectively. But yeah, I've always wanted to do the tow rope thing but haven't ever tried it.

We were thinking only towing like back up hills & stuff, cuz if you're on the board & your carvin' it up, the driver is gonna have to have some serious intuition & balance or they may tip over... We had a similar problem with a small boat we were skurfing behind. You could really feel the pull.

Now that I think about it, we've towed each other behind our bikes before on the sector 9s without too much difficulty. We were on a jogging path at the park in our neighborhood, it is only about 4-5 feet wide, but its curvy. We live in the ghetto sort of area & all the 'hood rats' were out at the park sitting on the picnic tables doin whatever they do... they would laugh at us every time we came by. In their minds they are all thinking the same thing... (I wish they would let ME try!!)
