What websites for gear, parts, etc would you recommend?

Post by EP_scoot »

I am guessing that there is a wealth of information in this forum regarding online sites to purchase stuff such as helmets, jackets, etc, etc. I was thinking it might be a great help for those of us new to the scootering world. And it would be nice to have a place/post to refer new people as well.

Maybe Corsair can even add it to his running list for New Owners. :D

I know of www.newenough.com (gear, mainly out of season or out of stock, great prices)

Go ahead and add yours.

Thanks,

========================

Here is the list of sites collected from the posts below.

In the USA

www.newenough.com

http://helmetcity.com/

www.ScootRichmond.com

www.Scooterworks.com (ScooterworksUSA)

www.DennisKirk.com

www.motorcycle-superstore.com

Outside the USA

Scooter-Center Köln (English page - www.scooter-center.com/1024-e.htm)

SIP in Germany ( www.sip-scootershop.com/ )

Beedspeed in the UK ( www.beedspeed.com )

Multi-links sites (AKA mother of all _ _ _ _ _ _ fill in the blank)

www.vespa.org/vlinks.cfm (bazillion links, many related to vespa/lambretta)

I don't know how far Eden Prairie is from Dennis Kirk's warehouse, but they're in MN somewhere and a good mail-order place, though last i checked their site was pretty hard to get around on (their catalogs are good)

NewEnough is great.

I've bought a couple helmets from Helmet City, they're good to deal with:
http://helmetcity.com/

Scoot Richmond and ScooterworksUSA are my favorites for scooter-specific mailorder.

If you can't find something in the US, try Scooter-Center Köln or SIP in Germany, or Beedspeed in the UK

As far as aftermarket Blur/Buddy-specific parts and accessories, I haven't seen anything other than Martin Racing Performance (who only sell through dealers), the NCY/Scooterworks stuff, and a few really dodgy-looking asian sites, but I'd love to be proven wrong!

I have a feeling there is a lot of NCY/Scooterworks stuff on the way, but I dunno if it'll only be sold through dealers, or if it'll be in the Scooterworks catalog/site too.

on the same line as newenough is motorcycle-superstore.com. Best price I could find for the giant Kryptonite noose I lug around - and free shipping over $75, thank goodness! They had some good-looking closeouts I was considering, too, but I ended up purchasing all of my other stuff from newenough or my local shop.

thank you, guys.
I will keep editing the top post so the list keeps growing on the first post, vs. having to look for the different places throuth out the subsequent posts, if that makes sense.

Keep them coming ! :D

Edit: Wow, the more I look at it, it's REALLY out of date (2000 AD), but there's still lots of good stuff there. And it's bringing back a lot of memories.

What about the local shops?

Can’t say I always do, but often I check the local shops. I know there can be much better deals over the net, but if you patronize your local scooter/motorcycle shops, it will help keep them in business – they are the ones that supplied the joy in the first place. And, they deserve a chance.

rajron,
I think we all like to patronize our locals. In my case, they do not sell much aftermarket stuff. I got the jacket and helmet from them, but for footwear, pants, gloves, and more I had to go somewhere else as they do not carry any of that stuff.

And other times the deals online are just too good to pass :D

Hey EP_Scoot,

Up in Hopkins there's The Hitching Post, which is where I got my armored gloves, my helmet easy-clasp, and some other odds and ends. They're just a normal motorcycle shop, but they're just up in Hopkins on 17th. If you head up Baker or Shady Oak into Hopkins from EP, hang a right on Excelsior and then a left on 17th and it's on your left in about half a mile. They also have Vinos for sale and a Honda Ruckus you can rent for $75/day.

Rush City, MN. They have a fantastic Outlet Center right off the freeway. Always worth a visit. The main store is back in an industrial area.
