Saw this on CL.

Price isn't bad, but sounds like it might come with some headaches.

sounds stolen!
If there are no keys how does that person know it runs great?

Is it a 50cc?
Are you thinking about buying it?

Nope. Just started keeping my eye out for scoots in Chicago, Des Moines and the other towns within a reasonable drive.

Doesnt have to be on there to mean it's stolen, theres more and more scooters unreported stolen because people dont know where to post or report the theft.

This guy/girl probably just bought the bike, then had it stolen off of them.

Gotcha.

I sent off an email asking for more info. I'd love to be able to help reunite that scoot to it's owner.

Remember to ask for a reward when you reunite the buddy and the owner!

The reward would be in the deed itself.

And karma.

Hello everybody,

I think we may have had something to do with this discussion. We had our scooter stolen two days ago in Chicago. My gf had parked it by a metra stop close to artesian and grand. When she came home that evening the scooter was gone. It had a lock on it but we know those don't always do much.

Anyway she had posted a note on craigslist (she didn't know about modernbuddy  ) about it being stolen. Later she saw the ad referenced in this discussion and removed her post and contacted the police but we think this ad could have been a joke but not sure. We had lots replies from concerned people and we greatly appreciated it! The poster of this ad didn't reply back to anyone that we are aware of.

Yesterday the police called and they had found the scooter. They attempted to pull over the person driving it but when they did that the person just ditched the scooter while it was moving and took off running. This caused it to get pretty scraped up. We are also missing a jacket that was in the seat and the plates and title were gone as well. They did catch the person so hopefully there will be some justice.

Ultimately, it is sad that these things happen but we feel it is best not to dwell on the negatives. We have insurance and since Scooterworks is in Chicago we have a good place to get it repaired.

Thanks to everyone who showed concern for the well being of our buddy. We know there are many more good people out there than bad!

Take care!

Truly awesome!

It pays to be vigilant; I'm really glad you guys were able to relocate the scoot. And the fact that the shyster got caught is a satisfying bonus.

MOST EXCELLENT, Peaches!! I'm so glad you got it back---and catching the guy who stole it is a major bonus. So sorry for the headache and heartache of seeing the Buddy scraped up. I have no doubt that Ken and his posse at Scooterworks will take good care of you all.

Because I live in Chicago, I'm wondering what kind of lock you had on the scoot at the time?

Good on yah for your diligence.

Great for you, guys ! Too bad they dumped it while running. If they have jobs (doubt it) you might be able to garnish a portion of their wages to pay for repairs.

The other awsome thing is the scooting community looking after each other ! :D
Beer is the answer . . . what was the question?

Thanks everyone for your kind replies!! Very nice to see the support from this community.

sargelee71- We just had a Kryptonite U-lock on the wheel. I am not sure which model. Do you have any recommendations on other options?

It seems to me that if someone wants it bad enough they are going to get it. :)
