Vanity Plates?
Hi everyone...I've been lurking for a little while, but now I have a question so here goes.
I'm in Providence, RI and just upgraded my (beloved) Honda Met to a Saint Tropez Buddy. Wow, what a difference! Happily I sold my Met to my neighbor a few doors down so I'll still get to ride occasionally.
I'm off to the DMV today and I'm thinking about a vanity license plate. "Buddy" is available, but it's kind of lame, and also the name of our former mayor who was convicted of several felonies while in office.
Rhode Island allows 5 characters, letters only (no numbers -- otherwise I would get "90MPG" in a second).
Any ideas you like to offer are most appreciated!

BLU
Yeah, I know it's tough without numbers. I was playing around with BLU (I liked BLUBUG but too many letters). The online form isn't allowing numbers, but I'm reading the regs and it doesn't say anything about numbers. I'll see what they say when I go.brimstone wrote:how about " OLBLU".....man 5 letters and no numbers it tuff.
SWEET is taken, unfortunately.
Now I'm thinking SBAHN, which is the subway in Berlin and a take on my name.

Letters & Numbers=YES
Are you sure RI doesn't allow letters and numbers?

Can I get vanity plates for my motorcycle?
Yes. You can have a combination of five letters and numbers. Fees vary depending on what plate design you choose. Here's a breakdown of the costs:
Wave design: $37.50 + $27.50 vanity fee.
Sailboat design: $51.50 + $27.50 vanity fee.

Thanks everybody for your great ideas.
I wound up getting sbahn (as in Schnell Bahn!)...TARDIS was too long. When it arrives, I'll take a pic of me on my scoot.
RI is completely messed up with its license plates. People hand them down in their family and the lower the number you have, the cooler you are because you've lived here forever. RI-ders also put renewal stickers all over the plate because we want to show how long we've lived here. I was once behind a van with 12 registration stickers scattered over the face of plate. No idea if any of them was current.

Siobhan -
I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that you are not a native Rhode Islander? I will say however that you have excellent taste is scooters! Which plates did you get, the wave or the sailboat?
I lucked out when I went to register my Buddy and got a plate that had the number of my first PIN number when ATM's first started being installed at the banks.
Maybe I'll see you around on your scooter? Do you leave Providence on it? Or maybe I'll run into you at JAVASPEED!
Peace -
