Experience with Ground Anchors?

Post by Piedmont »

Anyone have experience with ground anchors? My area is apparently "high risk" (Hyde Park for those in KC.) I'd really like to get a ground anchor, but I'm not sure how to approach my landlord about this. Are any removable? How hard are they to put into existing asphalt? Do I actually need to ask permission to put one in my assigned parking space? Any negotiating tips?

And if the county we invented will fall from grace
I guess we'll have to fly away in our own space...Think Locally ..F*ck Globally
I was once asked If I were a tattoo what would I be?... I responded Id be a teardrop Tattoo under a bloodshot eye.

Yes, you need to talk to your landlord, it is his place.

I would contact the city about maybe having one installed on private property. I am sure they have what you are looking for & a plus is that you do not have to do the work.

I'm looking at something similar to this. (Or this itself) So we're all on the same page.

WOW I did not realize this is what you are talking about. This could be really helpful to me also. I was thinking of something else.

I had a feeling that was the case Tex. No way would think of installing one of theose big honkers without asking. These can be driven over, and are pretty inconspicuous. I just don't have any experience with masonry bits.

There are several Modern Vespa members who have installed various anchors.

Here are several alternatives:

Most require either use of a masonry bit or pouring of concrete. The Torc ground anchor can be installed in floors or walls using normal tools and an included kit, but it's pricey and, I think, only available as an import from the UK.

Here's how one member uses the Rota Force anchor:

If I had a choice, I'd go with pouring concrete.

If you drill cememt for these anchors, you may want to buy or rent a hammer drill.....
