prospective buyer..how do you start it?

Post by AmyNTX »

I know this is a dumb question...but I really want to know..I saw a couple pictures and it looks like you kick start it? is that true? Or do you start it with a key? Also, is there a clutch ? I have only rode dirtbikes..4 stroke's.
thanks!

They all do have kickstarts, but that's only for a back-up. It has electric push-button start also. 8)

Oh yeah, no clutch on the buddy... I think maybe only the Rattlers and Stellas have them?

As far as I can think of, all modern scooters sold in America have a continuously variable transmission (CVT) rather than gears. The only exceptions are the Bajaj Chetak/Legend and Vespa PX (production discontinued in 2006 but still available) and the Genuine Stella 150, which all have 4-speed manual transmissions.

Just about all modern scooters have electric pushbutton starters, and many have kickstart pedals but most modern kickstarters aren't very robust or convenient, they're just there in case the battery's dead.

The Stella is a shift, the Rattler is an auto. Push button start with kick start as a backup.

The buddy can be started like a car, but not the same, just insert the key, push the ignition button and BAM it turns on in 1-2 seconds. In your car you just turn the key all the way and hold it until it turns on.

Kick starting is optional too, I used to do this all the time on my bike, but my ankle became sore so I quit.
