A bit on the high side for a 125, but still a good price, ask 100 dollars more, and find another dealer.

1. She is buying an 08

2. Shipping has gone up over 200 dollars per scooter at our dealer

3. Location plays a big part on how much you pay

4. the 07's are being sold to dealers at a discount = less for you

You gotta understand there is a reason why some dealers charge slightly more or less than others, the tax they pay to buy the bikes for their own show room, and prep. Some dealers charge for prep, others dont since it's a "routine" thing they do for every bike they get.

They dont just sit in their chairs and say "lets mark up prices today!"

Are you sure this is a 2008 Pink Buddy?

I thought 2007 was the last year for the Pink Buddy.

3000 is the average of what most people pay for a new 125, maybe more/less.

There are pink 08' b125's they are just not a standard item. I saw one at Metro Scooter in Cincinnati last week. I asked about it because it had the longer mirror stems/ steibel horn and I was told that it was an 08. They told me that there are some available, but they are special order. Genuine must be slappin some leftover pink plastic on 08's.

They haven't had any 07' buddies at Metro Scooter in a for a month or 2. They have sold out of several shipments of 08's this year.

Thanks.

I wondered what features were specific to 2008 and not 2007.

The dealer told me that it is a 08"...it has the black seat and handlegrips.
the 07' had the white. Well, If I am walking in with cash is it horrible for me to ask if they will take $3,000?

I have 07 with black seat and grips.

One of the other posts said the horn and something else is different on 08's from 07's.

Sure wouldn't hurt to ask if there is a cash discount. If not, then ask if there could be a discount on a helmet or apparel.

ALSO, in some states title & licensing is included in your OTD price. IN others, you pay for that out of pocket after the fact.

Amy, you'd be best off asking some of the other DFW owners.

I paid $3,200 OTD for my Italia where I bought it in NC. It seemed like a stiff price to me, but I didn't think about the fact that shipping to shops in Cali is much less expensive than it must be to ship all the way across the US from the west coast. Every shop is different though, so you just have to look at your options and make the choice based on what fits best for you. If there is another shop that carries them in your area I'd definitely check around. In my case I bought anyway because the next closest dealer was 3 hrs away. Not worth the trouble to save a little coin.

I wouldnt listen to them when they say it's a 2008 color, anyone can take say a black bike, switch the panels in an hour, and keep the seat and hand grips original. The color of the handle bar and seat means nothing about the year. For all you know, it could also be a 2007 or 2006 left over with a new seat and grips applied and rebadged as a 2008. A dealer can do anything to make their customer happy, but they should be truthful and upfront say what year it is.

The OTD discussion gets posted every so often and since there are lots of new owners on the board (yay!) it bears saying that OTD varies a LOT from place to place. Some factors have been mentioned (tag/title) but there are others like setup fee (which is real and not a bogus add on), etc.

Every dealer does it differently. Your dealer should give you a very specific breakdown of the pricing (mine even had the courier fee on it for the tag/title) so you can compare apples to apples.

Dealers will, of course, get rid of some fees and then raise others to compensate, or give free accessories or free first service.

I have three dealers that are a reasonable distance away and they were all within $100 OTD for my Italia, so I went with the closest one, which also happened to be the one I was most comfortable with. As Eric said you'd be best off asking people in your area, so maybe you can call some other dealers if there are some that are somewhat nearby. Even if you don't plan on buying from them you can get a price.

The final thing that always comes up in these discussions is that you will have a relationship with this dealer for a while, so in my opinion, it's worth it to pay a bit more if you are really comfortable with the people at the dealer. If you have trouble getting parts down the line, a good dealer will swap you new ones from a scoot in the back room and then you'll be up and running while they wait for the inevitable parts delay. If you have a good dealer and something questionable goes wrong with your scoot, they will push for it to be a warranty claim. Things like that are important - there are no dealers getting crazy rich on scooters so it pays to go with the one you think will be the best overall in the long run, even if it's a couple hundred out of your pocket now.
(if you want to see some of the other discussions on this, a search for OTD will bring up tons of threads to wade through!

I know that the OP's question was not about all of this but like I said, it always heads this way and we've got a lot of new owners on the board so hopefully this is helpful to someone! I know it helped me procrastinate for 10 minutes!!

Not sure how great of a deal it is but as long as your happy with it.

For what its worth, I paid 3300 OTD (tax, lic, everything) for my Stella

The Pink is getting harder and harder to find; you want it, you don't think twice because it may not be there for too long.

You will be visible in PINK and that is a good thing for drivers to clearly see you.

pink 08 buddy 125

I just bought the pink '08 and my OTD was $3115, so it sounds like a reasonable price to me. I did get front and rear racks on mine, though, to the tune of $170.

That's where I got mine! I love them there, Seth and Dave are great. Dave was even going to loan me a helmet for like a week until he got some more in, just so I could practice.
