Wind Gusts

Post by pamalama »

I've been hit by wind gusts lately that startle me. I've only been riding less than a month and started riding to work the last few days...in traffic, what a joy that is. But, at times, like over a bridge with low sides, or where there are no buildings, maybe just lots, the wind comes gusting around and I wobble...well, I don't GigGi the Buddy wobbles. It makes us both nervous, will we get used to this? I only weigh a little over a hundred pounds and the bike's not that heavy, would that have anything to do with it? Any suggestions as how to handle it? I drove on the freeway for the first time today....talk about wind!!! Wow those semis are a blast, literally!

If it's windy, slow down! That's a big one and it helps a lot.

The other advice is to relax--a strong wind will have an effect but the more relaxed you are, the better equipped you are to react to it.

There's no "magic formula" to riding better in the wind; it just takes practice and patience (like everything else)! :)

There are a lot of good tips for riding in the wind in this thread:

It does take practice, but there are some things you can do and to watch out for.

The wind affects the Buddy more than my Vino and sooner. When I first felt it I was a bit surprised. I'm not concerned about it, just noticed one more little difference between the two scooters.
