How do you replace rear brake lever?

Post by Benavides »

Would anyone with a little technical know-how be magnanimous enough to share how to replace the rear brake lever? I snapped mine in a low speed spill. I have the part on order and would like to try it myself if it isn't too difficult.

I dont know how to do it, but unless it is ridiculously simple... I dont mess with my brakes. Brakes and Helmets are the two things where I definately want someone to fix it or work with it, who knows what they are doing... :?

It's pretty simple.

Remove the bolt.

Remove lever.

Put new lever in.

Put bolt back in.

Tighten.

Thank you ! A few questions: What do you do with the cable? Doesn't it fit into the lever? Isn't it under tension? (Sorry, being lazy - I don't want to take my headset apart until I do the work).

Here we are.

The cable should just slide out of the lever.

I suggest getting someone to help you with holding the cable tight.
