Anyone have any experience with this helmet?

Post by DarkHorse »

Hey guys. By chance has anyone purchased this helmet, or know of anyone that has had any experience with it. I've found a few websites that sell it for $39.95, discounted from $189.95. I'm not up on my helmet brands, so I guess I'm just wondering if you're getting exactly what you're paying for, or if it's actually a really good deal. And if it's missing a ton of features, could you give me some advice on what to look for, and what to stay away from? I take ownership of my new 2007 Blur in 10 days (first scooter), so although this is an important purchase, I also need to make a quick decision if I'm gonna order it on-line. Appreciate any help you could give. Thanx!

Never heard of this helmet before but that doesn't really mean anything. More important is the shape of your head matching the shape of the helmet and getting the size right. Are you a round head or an oval? Is this helmet made for rounds or ovals? Do these helmets run true to hat size or do they run small or large? If you can't answer these questions you're potentially wasting your money.

There are lots of helmet discussions on this forum. Do a search and you'll find heaps of info. Bottom line, I'd never order a helmet if I couldn't try it on first.

helmet recommendation

Post by PammySue »

I just received my new helmet today and I AM IN LOVE!! It is completely totally freakin awesome! It is lighter than the box it was shipped in, has so many vents my head is cooler with it on than off and the built in sunglasses are so handy! By the way, I got the red one and it's a beauteous candy apple color!

Shipping from Belgium was faster than anything I've ever ordered stateside (well except for Zappos shoes!) and the customer services guys at dainese couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Maybe pricey but oh so worth it!

I dunno...a price reduction from $189.95 to $39.95, and I assume the seller still makes a profit from it? I'd have to ask myself just how good can this helmet be? But, if you think you have a $39.95 head...
Personally, I think my head is worth at least $59.95. :D

They may just be cutting their losses on old stock to clear space or they may have gotten a very good deal on an older model.

It's hard to make helmet assumptions based on price. However, this is a manufacturer none of us have every heard of... And I'm a bit suspicious of their customer reviews, all of which read like the same person wrote them.

These helmets are on closeout on several sites. I wonder if they're permanent closeout—something super cheap marked up and then discounted to make them seem better. I also read one forum post found via Google which said replacement visors are unavailable.

I don't know if the helmet's crap, but if I was buying, I'd still go with a better known maker and a model that's been reviewed on more reliable sites.
