I just got back from a business trip to San Francisco, and I was amazed to see scooters all over the place - including lots of Buddys. I even spotted two Italias and a Pampalona.
I'm in Chicago, and there are scooters around, but nothing like San Fran! I was also amazed how many 50cc scoots were around given the steep hills.
Is San Francisco ground zero for scooters, or is this the case in other cities that do not have winters that shelve scooters for five months? Or am I just noticing scooters everywhere now that I own one?

I was told by my wife that I have too much money and not enough hobbies.... or something like that.

Most cities that are compact with large populations (like San Francisco) are usually hot beds for scooters. I can't tell you how much time and aggravation I've saved riding my sccoter through heavy traffic, not to mention the easier parking at popular shopping/dinning areas. Plus, it's just plain fun to get around the city on a scooter.
Now if we can only get some of the more modern scooters available in other parts of the world...

In San Diego, only the most compact areas are scooter havens. In North Park especially near Motorsports (imagine that), there is a lot of scooters buzzing around especially in the evenings. Hillcrest and Kensington neighborhoods also have quite a few scooters. These areas are laid out in a grid with minimal hills and low speed limits. Scooter Heaven!
The scenery only changes for the lead scooterist.
