key ring garage door opener/operators

Post by Mary Jane »

Maybe everyone already knows this, but with our 2 new Buddys in the garage and my van exiled to the driveway we needed a couple extra garage door opener "operators".

Husband (aka"gadget man 8) ") found some that are small and made to go onto the key rings. You do need to be careful that they are compatible to your opener -- (something about the programming buttons have to match up.)

I thought it was very clever -- wouldn't have looked for them on my own.

That reminds me of a George Carlin joke and getting his future told by a fortune cookie. "Nows a good time to ask for a raise." To which he replied, "Great, if I had a job I'd ask for a raise."

You could also velcro a standard opener remote in the pet carrier (i.e. underseat) quite easily.

I was able to hang my regular, clip-on-the-sun-visor type opener on the stem for the front DOT turn signals. I'm able to operate it with my left hand without distraction. But as they say on the internets - YMMV - (I don't own a Buddy).

I affixed a little two-pole button to my glove box and I press it every time I turn on my street. Voila! By the time I get home, my carport is open. 8)

Most of those little remotes are pretty universal. Being the Johnson controls makes like 90% of the garage door openers out there (branded for Sears, Genie etc) it's pretty easy to find one that works.

Mod Squad:

Pete: "The maid used to lock me in the closet"

Julie: "At least you had a maid...."

Linc: "At least you had a closet....."

I remember this -- that's why I don't know any of the songs on the song thread............
