Back rest for Buddy 125

Post by schroeder »

Does anyone know of anyway to put a back rest on a Buddy? Other then having someone fabricate one to fit the scooter. I am looking for some lower back support. 8)

you could always wear a weight belt when you ride for back support

I sit all the way on the back part of the seat with my feet on the silver passenger foot rests. Shifting my weight forward and keeping a straight back eliminates most of the pressure on my back. I would not feel comfortable with a back rest. "Chillin'" on a Buddy would spell disaster if I was to encounter a road hazard or sudden traffic emergency.

you'd only want one when going long distances, i think you'll have to get one fabricated. but in order to be able to lift your seat open you'll have it sitting so far back it probably would not be comfortable. i have been trying to figure out how i can make it tilt bacwards and forwards for the pet carrier access problem problem then i'm thinking of having one fabricated as well.

if you figure anything out keep us updated on your progress

or if any one has any ideas.

my idea was making some sort of rear rack/backrest or even modifying the aftermarket back rack to include a backrest.

You could incorporate one to a new seat cover, that way your weight would prevent it from moving it.

Talk to Crystal Waters at www.ScooterSeatCovers.com. She can probably make you one that won't break the bank.
Beer is the answer . . . what was the question?

If you really want one in a bad way, contact www.utpr.com If you send them your seat they might be able to design a driver backrest for the Buddy. I have one of theirs on my Helix and it is amazing in comfort and quality.

Now, having to be without your seat...

Think of it as your contribution to Buddy Nation.

Just because you have a backrest doesn't mean your chillin'. I was never a backrest fan until I rode a Big Ruckus. It's SOOOO comfy!

Some one had a post on here a few weeks ago about a cargo back that straps on over the back portion of the seat that had a back support on it. Can't remember the name of the post.
