Great Scootering Day!

Post by DennisD »

Sometimes things just come together. This might get a little long.

I go into work at 5:30, my wife at 8:00. We both work at the same place and things were going well today so she decided to take off a little early and leave with me. I rode the Vino to work and she rode the Buddy and since we were leaving together I suggested a slight detour before heading home. She thought that was a good idea and off we went.
We took off across the 3 mile bridge to Gulf Breeze and then over to Pensacola Beach. The water was beautiful, the temps were decent and the humidity was low. Unusual for this part of the world but much loved. On down the beach we rode until we got to Chicken Bone Beach, turned around and headed back to the main parking lot at the fishing pier. We stopped there and had a coke and one of their world famous fish sandwiches at the snack bar. Its right on the beach and the breeze and people watching was excellent. You should have seen some of the tourons' sunburns! OUCH!!
Back across the bridges to town and home for a quick bite and then tonight's Pensacola Scooter Army ride after meet and eat at CiCi's.
First a quick trip to the library with my daughter on the scoot to check some books for her summer reading program.
Quickly, back home, drop her off, pick up my son, and head for the PSA ride.
UHOH, no one at CiCi's. I couldn't have missed them. Oh well, my son and I took off on my Helix and rode the route I had suggested for the night ride. More miles and a stop at a parts store for some oil and then zoom back home.
Didn't even go into the house. We stayed in the garage, changed oil on 3 scoots and then rode to the parts store to recycle a gallon of old oil. My son rode the Ruckus and we took our secret back roads since he's only 14. We got home at 9:00pm, smiling all the time.
What a day. Rode a lot, spent time with my wife away from the kids, had fun with my son and daughter, accomplished a couple of needed tasks and did not get into a cage for any of it.
IT HAS BEEN A GREAT DAY! :D :D :D :D

Man, that rules, dennis.

By the way, the PSA ride IS NEXT THURSDAY!!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID IT AGAIN!!!

Sorry, no offense, that was crackin' me up. My 'rents are in South Dakota right now, but we are always up for a ride (sometimes we'll ride around town with Jason just for the heck of it, nowhere to go... that's always fun). Give us a holler if you ever want to meet up!

HA!
I DID IT AGAIN!

Do ya spose I should use a calendar? I hate those things. I've got a nice watch with a calendar, but it doesn't work. Sometimes I wear it anyway.

Two rides, two week earlies, what's next?

South Dakota? Did they ride the Helix?

OK, CiCi's NEXT week.

Hey, it's not so bad, you are getting double the fun and you are prepared for the ride next week... Maybe we should make it a point to go a week early every month!

Feh, it was actually too hot to ride here today—well over the 100 mark, and me still without a mesh jacket. I almost went out in the afternoon, but the power went out and we decided to jump in the pool and wait it out. (it's good to have a pool, even if it is the smallest manmade body of water that, I think, can legally be called a pool!)

I know how you feel. I was headed to Phoenix for a local meetup (and hopefully to get a better hand in this week's Hunt!). At 110+ today, even with a mesh jacket and a Core Cooler - which works pretty well, all things considered - I lasted about 15 minutes, and turned around. What a wimp. <sigh>

Gee Doc, err, uhh, dang it, I'm BUSTED!

The only problem with PSA is they don't ride FAR enough for me. I'm working on that - deep down. Maybe you should join us and provide a little group therapy. Pro bono, of course.
