fuel tank capacity

Post by linuxmann »

Just wondering if anyone knows the exact capacity of the roughhouse 50 fuel tank. My owners manual isn't for my exact model and all the models listed are in liters.

I think the Roughhouse is basically the PGO PMX-50. Lemme guess, you have the almost useless but slightly engertaining manual for the Black Cat? Anyway, I the capacity is supposed to be just over 1.25 gallons. I've never put more than .8 in at a time. My gas gauge always tells me I'm almost on empty, and then I look and have 1/3 tank left. I have all the body panels off at the moment and looked for a sticker or marking of some kind on the gas tank, but there didn't appear to be indication of the capacity anywhere.

just a word of warning....
the Rattlers (50 & 110cc) seem to have a problem with vapor lock when you fill them ALL the way to the top -
when this happens, they are hard to start & ocassionally stall until you use up some gas - happened to my 50
there is a post about it some place in this forum.
dont know for sure if the black cats & rough houses have that problem or not...

I've not run into that problem at all. I use the kickstand and not the center stand when filling up. I fill up to the bottom of the rim. The tank never gets 100% full, but I never accidentally overfill it either.

There is a post on yahoo group on how to cure the vapor lock problem, pictures are included as well. I rarely overfill, unless I am using a plastic fuel jug. Then for some reason I always overfill it, so I typically leave the gas lid slightly ajar and this allows air flow into the tank. I am planning on doing the fix, so that I can completely top off my tank when I have longer rides planned.

I'll be doing that mod shortly - I caught the gas dripping out of the charcoal cannister while it was sitting in the shed.

Yep, I have the Black Cat manual...entertaining to say the least. I don't think it was ever checked for spelling or grammar, or it was poorly translated...anyway, I guess I just fill it almost full. Thanks everyone for the input.

BTW just got 100 miles on my Roughhouse...having sooo much fun!

I just noticed that my manual states "Tank Capacity: 5.1 Liter", which is approx. 1.35 gallons
