So, did you miss me? (or even notice I was gone? )
Just returned from a two week trip to China, which was quite enjoyable- except that I was sick for the majority of the trip. Oh well. Hopefully I will get over it soon.
I was primarily in Beijing, and was really surprised at the lack of both scooters and bicycles on the roads there. Given the choice, though, I would be pretty leary about getting off the relative safety of the sidewalk, regardless of the type of vehicle.
Of course I missed you...anyone who has both a Chetak and a Buddy has to be all right! Anyway, hope you get over your virus attack soon. I saw your posting in another thread about sneezing in your helmet. Ick. Been there, done that. It's better WITH a helmet, though. If you sneeze on something as small as a Buddy without a helmet, the recoil could set you back at least a couple of blocks....
Of course you were missed! I misinterpreted an old thread of yours last night, and thought you had returned and were now Buddyless. Sorry you're feeling ick, but glad it was a good trip otherwise!

I never made it to Beijing, but scooters, and especially bicycles, are very popular in Shanghai and Seoul, South Korea. Malaysians were all about riding 4-up on their dirt bikes.
I'm working on it! But it will take me a little time, as I took ~900! Sometimes I just don't know when to stop...
The virus is weakening, so hopefully I will get the Buddy out soon. Guess I should put the battery on the charger so there are no let-downs when the time comes to fire it up.

Hm, maybe all that stuff about Vitamin C isn't true after all!
I deny everything!
Seriously, taking some more vitamins with me probably would have been a good idea- I could have been out scootering this weekend instead of fearing to stray too far from the kleenex box!

Yes! There were a few times I was tempted to log on from China, but you just wouldn't believe how slow the internet connection was- does the phrase "molassus in January" ring a bell? On coming back home, all of a sudden my 4yo laptop feels like a speed demon again!
Well, it's taken forever, but I have finally posted up the pictures from my China adventure. If you're interested in seeing them, click here.
By far, the favorite part of my trip was hiking along the Great Wall at a more remote section from where tourists normally go. There was recently an article in the NY Times discussing the "Wild Wall" area where I visited: link
And, just to keep this ever so slightly on topic, here is a pic showing how bad the moto-cops have it in Beijing. Their equipment is not much better than the glorified bicycles that many folks were riding!

Am I the only one who has a Kleenex box in the glove box? It's some kind of decorator disaster that's oval-shaped and was on sale at Target. It fits perfectly (and it's pink).

Your Buddy has a glove box?!
I'd actually like pictures of your pink Kleenex box. We can add it to our list of "essential accessories." I usually carry a bunch in my jacket pocket, especially since switching to a helmet with face shield.
Eric // LA Scooter Meetup Group // Stella 4T // Vespa LX // Vespa LXS // Honda Helix // some, uh, projects…

"Glove box" is a pretty fancy word for that little pouch at the front. My "PIGL1T" vanity plates are in, so I'll post pics of both after I get to the DMV.
