Have a look at some of the blogs, there are a few scooterists in there... including a guy in the Twin Cities who blogged about scootering through the winter last year.

Just started this week. Got my Buddy 125 last Saturday.
It's a heck of a lot of fun and beats taking the bus 7 ways to Sunday.

I bought my Buddy as a bus eradication system as well.
Typical bus ride from downtown Cincy to home: 40 minutes, plus wait time, and walking depending on which route, no fun. $1.00
Ride home from work last night: 15 minutes of fun. Maybe $0.30 in gas?
Plus, they're raising the bus fare again next year to $1.25

My commute is short, and a bus isn't even an option out here in the sticks.
I bought my scooter as an SUV buster
. I still have the SUV but I don't as a rule drive it. I've got over 2k miles on my scooter(s) in under 3 months, since I bought one, rode it a month, bought another and it's been my ride since.

Like Lobsterman, I hated the bus ride to work. Living 20 miles from downtown the bus ride was not to fun. The morning was ok, no traffic on Beechmont ave, but the ride home was terrible. It took to long and just ws not to reasonable. The buddy solved those problems.
Maybe we should start a thread here entitled "How was your Commute today?"
What do you think? everyone could post daily how their scooter commute was.

My ride this morning was very nice. Right around freezing temp, but seemed to be much less traffic on the road than usual. I guess lots of folks taking the day off to extend the long weekend.
My ride home yesterday was great too. I had to stay slightly late at work, so called my wife who reminded me I had a commitment somewhere requiring that we leave home in 35 minutes. On the bus it would have been impossible. On the scooter, I hit all the green lights all the way home and took the nice uphill curve on Glenway Ave much faster than usual since there wasn't any other traffic coming up the hill with me. Leaned way over and it was picture perfect. Made it home in 15 minutes, a new record.

yeah, not having to rely on the bus/train anymore is a great thing! CTA kinda sucks (especially the unreliable busses)! and the Metra is great for getting to work quickly (like less than 5 minutes) but it's a longer walk and only comes once and hour, so if you miss it...well.
(having my own schedule is greatly preferred!)
Plus it's always a mandatory wakeup every morning. Although, I admit the exhiliration from the commute to work started fading very quickly since its for the most part a straight shot from my house and traffic can range from nice to not so nice between leaving for work and returning home...and it's only like 3 miles away so it's becoming too short and familiar to enjoy haha...but it definitely still beats a car! (though not quite as much when its around 30F something outside with the lake-effect)
