Buying my Buddy
I live in San Antonio, Tx and was wondering where all my fellow Texans bought their Buddys and how much you paid? There is a small shop here in town and they have them for $3000 after all charges, they don't do financing for them, but they will finance a Kymco, but I am getting a Buddy.

I don't know about Texas but I paid only $100 over MSRP at the dealer (that is not including taxes or insurance). I think the best thing to do in this case is to contact a number of dealers for an out the door quote and see what the range is. If you want you can tell a dealer that you can get it cheaper somewhere else, but in that case you should be prepared to go there.
I don't know what the margins are on these scooters, so your dealer may very well not have a lot of wiggle room. I can say when I was pricing out various flavors of bikes, the dealer fees ranged from $100 - $700 over depending on the model and dealer.

Josh,
I paid, in Georgia, MSRP of $2500. With tax, transportation costs, dealer setup, my Buddy came to $2900 and change. Seems average to me. I still need to register, get plates etc which my dealer does not do. It seems the dealers won't haggle too much as this is peak scooter season. Some people have had succes having a helmet or other item thrown all. All I got was a lousy Tshirt. My dealer wouldn't finance the Buddy either, but would finance the Kymco as well. It was actually financing through Kymco that I was offered, not through the dealer itself.
Good luck negotiating a deal for yourself and your Buddy!

Don't know price, but I know some of the DFW people bought theirs at Garner's in Cleburne. They've been in business forever and have a good rep in the world of scoots.
$3000 is a lot, but I don't know if it'd be worth the difference to travel as far as Cleburne or Houston to get one, especially if you don't have a vehicle that can get it back to SA.

Just Bought One 11/10 !!
Just got my Sunset orange here and it was $2695...added the basket and the rack and it was still under $3000 parts/labor. The Vespa dealer here has similar rides for $5,000+, way out of my price range. And they only have floor models, you have to order in. So from what I see on the street around here, they are pricing themselves out of a lot of sales.

If you aren't opposed to heading to Houston, Scooter Smith seems to be well liked out there. I haven't been to Steven Smith's shop since a couple summers ago when he had Stellas and Genuine automatics weren't available.

Another satisfied Scootersmith customer here. Mine was about $2900 out of the door, with the taxes and tags, etc. included in that. He was kind enough to ride it to my house for me this morning. Great people, I plan on talking them up to anyone I know who was interested in getting a scooter of their own.
