Looks like ArgoUSA (formerly Bajaj USA) has put up some info regarding the new automatic scoots they will be importing. Similar in style and price to the Buddy, but with 150cc and probably made in China. Hopefully they will ensure that the quality is a bit higher than the standard Chinese scoots!

Re: Buddy gets some competition
The back half looks like that got a deal setup with the factory that T&G and Schwinn scooters get theirs from. I have noticed with the proper setup and inspection those have not been a bad and low cost scooter. Aslong as the manufacturers can keep up with the parts and stand behind their warranty.vitaminC wrote:Looks like ArgoUSA (formerly Bajaj USA) has put up some info regarding the new automatic scoots they will be importing. Someone on the Bajaj yahoo group thought they were very similar (perhaps identical) to the Baron 150VLA. It's not bad looking, but I don't care for the front fender, and the back end seems too "busy."

I don't know much about Chinese scoots, but I hope that Argo has done their homework...

I keep forgetting Baron has switched form a 2 scooter like to about 10 (again mostly clones)
Sorry on a side not I hate the T&G Low Boy, Baron 150-R, and what ever eurpone version scooter that was made after.

The Buddy's already got a LOT of competition from inexpensive Asian-built scoots, most of which are pretty bad. I've been seeing a lot of these in this area lately... the "what the hell is that?" scoots.
I tend not to like these "retro" scoots, many of which, as mentioned, look very similar to one another. They all seem to be imitating the style of vintage scoots on some level without successfully embodying the spirit of those older designs. Despite that, I do like the fender crest.
