Buddy 125 Sticker Removal

Post by lobsterman »

I just removed the (very ugly I think) stickers from the front and sides that say "Buddy 125".

It took only seconds, and I much prefer the look now.

Gotta like that - fast, easy, free, and I like it better now. :)

I found a Batman sticker  I'm considering putting on the front of my Budd, so the label on the front's gotta go! 8)

I pulled mine off the day I got the scooter (which was in the summer). It seemed they use the same kind of glue that magazines use to put in those little brochures you can pull out. It's sticky enough but easily removable and doesn't leave any residue.

I removed the Buddy 125 logos as well as all the other "legal" stickers the first week I owned the scooter. All were easy except for the small one on the back of the steering head.

The main reason I removed the Buddy 125 stuff was to facilitate parking at bike racks, although I only do that for short periods when nothing else is available. So far, no problems from the Denver parking drones.

Be sure to remove your license plate too.....if you have one on your 125.

Some people use velcro on their plates to make them easily removeable...or so I've heard.

We've kicked these ideas around before. Shortly after I signed up on this forum I read about what sounded like a brilliant idea, velcro-ing one's license plate. A few folks recommended against it, mainly because it's kind of flagrant while just parking one's scooter in a questionable place is more passive. After thinking it over for a while, I decided against the velcro idea. I figured I'd park the way I always parked when I rode a 50 and see what happens.

So far, so good. No tickets, no warnings, no problems. Of course, this could change and it could also differ depending on where you live. I'll also try to park in a way that doesn't show off my license plate. Denver is a pretty scooter-friendly city, so maybe I'm lucky. But, if I do wind up getting a ticket, this forum will be among the first to know. Of course, with the Buddy, it could turn out to be a speeding ticket.

Around here, not having a plate will get you ticketed/towed faster than a questionable parking job. There are no motorbikes of any size allowed to park on sidewalks or at bike racks. This doesn't stop them, but there you go. I imagine getting your bike back out of city impound would be much harder without a plate.

OK, I was just removing the stickers because I think they're ugly.

My 125 is three days old - delivered to me Wednesday and ridden 30 miles yesterday. Took off the emblems today and moved the sticker from my dealer - Javaspeed - to the rear mudflap.

Now you can't tell it's a 125 and I'm planning to do the 'velcro' thing with the plate when I get it. But I'll use Dual Lock - it's more resilient than straight velcro.

I'm positive in Boston that I can park as a motorcycle with the plate - and have to pay parking fees, and that I can park as a bike if there's no plate on it.

Maybe I'll get a second 'fun' plate from Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid. The ones that kids have for their bikes. And velcro that in place when I take the real plate with me.

Cops will know it's a fake plate and assume it's a 50cc and is fine.

Have not been able to cleanly get the sticker off the back of the steering assembly. The one that says change oil at xxx and at xxx.

Also don't know if I want to take all the VIN riveted plates off and the other VIN stickers off.

*I put two of the Buddy 125 decals on my mountain bike. It's silver and the decals blend in.

Oh, also went online and ordered some decals and stickers. Bullet holes, flying spaghetti monster and such.

Any you can also make your own stickers through a sign shop or kinko's or maybe even CafePress.

That way your scoot is personalized and you'll be able to identify it when the roads are full of scooters like in Paris.

Thanks lobsterman.
As soon as I read your post I went out to see if I could remove mine too.
I really thought the were part of the plastic and was really pleased
how easy they could be removed.

A bit of wax dissolved the little bit of glue that was left on the paint and
BINGO -no more logo!

I did cut off the '125' part with a razor blade and put one above the front emblem, one on the little piece
under the rear brake light and the last one under the speedometer/instrument cluster.

I like it much better with them removed. Thanks again Lobsterman!

for that oil change sticker, I took mine off after about 3 weeks, and I just used my finger nail and picked at it while i was waiting outside of my GF's office to pick her up after work.

Buy one of those plate locker boxes that use the little key to hide important papers in. Cut the hinge and mount hooks instead. I wish I know how to transfer pics from the camera! Then when you park you unlock the plate and unhook it and toss it under the seat. Just remeber to put it back on later. Really nice for not getting tickets for parking a MOTORCYCLE (aka scooter with plate) on the sidewalk were it is legal to park a moped (scoot with no plate). But now with the Buddy I mostly use the parking garage nowadays. $2 to park is alot less hassle.
