Poor lil Orangey (that was its dumb name) never got recovered. The insurance company made everything really easy on me and I had a more than reasonable check two weeks after I made the report, right on the deadline of the timeframe they promised me. Signing up for that $100 deductible on the comprehensive insurance was SMART.
I went to the great local dealership, Scoot Over. They had a St. Tropez 150 used, $1900, only 253 miles, but it needed a new front fork. The people who sold it to them said it was in perfect running condition but they had a towtruck bring it in. It wouldn't turn left right. I went in on a Weds or Thurs, they said they would have it for me by Tuesday. But when the repair guys found out I was taking the bus (scooter's the only transportation I have), they got it done and I had it Firday! This was a couple weeks ago. I've put 300 miles on it since. It's been hot as sin out but riding around with that zippy new engine is just too fun to resist. Here's a pic:
I named her Melody Nelson because she's a Frenchy, and blue. I decided to get a really distinctive sticker for it so if it gets stolen again I can tell the cops it has Abraham Lincoln kicking a tire on the front, which I think I will be alone in here in Tucson. More importantly, I got a Xena alarm lock for it which I should probably adjust the sensitivity on because it has gone off at 4 a.m. 3x in the past two weeks, and when I go to look, no one's there. Everyone in my apartment complex probably hates me for this because that thing is loud.
