Greetings to all. My name is Bonnie.
Hello everyone. My name is Bonnie. I just picked up a new Buddy 50 two days ago. This is my first Genuine scooter. My last scooter was a Honda Ruckus. I have also owned many motorcycles including a Triumph Bonneville. I live in South Florida. I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers about mods I can do to make my buddy go faster. I had her up to 52 mph. Does anyone know how many more MPH I can get if I put on an aftermarket exhaust on her? Thanks! Ride Safe! ...Bonnie

I can't give you any first-hand tips beyond that (I'm content with the speeds I can already hit), but I'm told a performance exhaust can add about 10% to the engine's power. Another option is to replace the cylinder with a larger one, but that kind of mod can have an adverse effect on the engine's long-term reliability.

Welcome to MB!
You're doing pretty well for a 50cc Buddy. There is always more you can do but it gets expensive and can reduce reliability.
Many will suggest a bigger scooter but if the 50cc does what you need it to there is no reason you shouldn't stick with it

We also hold a tech day once a year or so at Casa Raton to help each other out with... whatever. There are also a few of us gear heads that get together to work on mods, rebuilds etc.

Exactly right. For a stock Buddy, almost unbelievably good. I'm not dissing 50s, but it is a matter of your expectations and how you intend to use the bike. A 50 may or may not do the job. Scooters comes in a wide variety of sizes, speeds, and capabilities. Match the bike to your needs (desiresscootERIK wrote:52 mph is pretty good for a 50cc, if you want to go faster you should get a 125 or 170.
